Where to Find and How to Upgrade All 10 Prosthetic Tools in Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice

There are a total of 10 Prosthetic Tools to be found and upgraded in Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice. Each tool will need to be found and upgraded fully. Some tools will require special materials in order to upgrade them. Some of the tools will require Lapis Lazuli to fully upgrade. Check out our guide for help finding Lapis Lazuli.

Below is a list of all the Prosthetic Tools, where to find them and what materials are needed to upgrade each of them. 

In total, you are going to need 35,100 Sen, 96 Scrap Iron, 27 Adamantite Scrap, 58 Scrap Magnetite, 40 Lump of Fat Wax, 15 Lump of Grave Wax, 28 Fulminated Mercury, 25 Black Gunpowder, 29 Yellow Gunpowder, and 10 Lapis Lazuli.

Warning: Make sure you collect every prosthetic tool before defeating the Divine Dragon.

Prosthetic Tools Locations

Shuriken Wheel

Ashina Outskirts / Outskirts Wall – Gate Path

Inside the building directly in front of this Idol. There will be a corpse on the left with a golden pickup.

In order to fully upgrade the Shuriken Wheel, you will need:

• 6,700 Sen
• 16 Scrap Iron
• 2 Adamantite Scrap
• 13 Scrap Magnetite
• 9 Lump of Fat Wax
• 3 Lump of Grave Wax
• 5 Fulminated Mercury
• 2 Lapis Lazuli

Shinobi Firecracker

Ashina Outskirts / Outskirts Wall – Gate Path

After beating the first miniboss, General Naomori Kawarada, take a path to you left which leads downhill. Keep an eye out for a grapple point on your left where you will see a merchant who will sell you the tool for 500 Sen.

In order to fully upgrade the Shinobi Firecracker, you will need:

• 2,200 Sen
• 2 Scrap Iron
• 2 Adamantite Scrap
• 5 Lump of Fat Wax
• 2 Fulminated Mercury
• 4 Black Gunpowder
• 2 Yellow Gunpowder

Flame Vent

Hirata Estate / Estate Path

Beyond this Idol is a group of enemies surrounding a campfire (you will need to jump a wall to see it). Kill the enemies and check the campfire for the tool. 

In order to fully upgrade the Flame Vent, you will need:

• 4,400 Sen
• 3 Scrap Iron
• 2 Scrap Magnetite
• 7 Lump of Fat Wax
• 4 Lump of Grave Wax
• 4 Fulminated Mercury
• 9 Black Gunpowder
• 11 Yellow Gunpowder
• 3 Lapis Lazuli
• 1 Pine Resin Ember

You can find the Pine Resin Ember by going to the Mibu Village Idol in Ashina Depth. At the Idol, turn around and face the lake. Jump in and swim towards the dock where you should be able to see a grapple point. Grapple up and head towards the house at the end of the ravine. The Pine Resin Ember will be on top of the house.

Loaded Axe

Hirata Estate / Estate Path

Near the Flame Vent tool, follow the normal story path until you see a man leaning on a wall to your right. Talk to him and he will mention an axe. Head into a courtyard with 2 enemies on your left. Kill them and check the little hut they were stood in front of for this tool.

In order to fully upgrade the Loaded Axe, you will need:

• 4,400 Sen
• 9 Scrap Iron
• 7 Adamantite Scrap
• 3 Lump of Grave Wax
• 3 Fulminated Mercury
• 4 Black Gunpowder
• 2 Yellow Gunpowder
• 3 Lapis Lazuli

Mist Raven

Hirata Estate / Bamboo Thicket Slope

Just beyond this Idol you will see a grapple point on your left. Grapple up and jump into some water. Swim upstream until you reach the end. Keep an eye out on the right for another grapple point. Grapple up and at the end of this path is a cave entrance blocked by some bamboo. Cut the bamboo with your sword and head inside where you will see some walls that you can use to jump up to another path. Follow the path to a temple and defeat the ninja that waits. Open the Temple door and you will see the tool.

In order to fully upgrade the Mist Raven, you will need:

• 2,000 Sen
• 2 Scrap Magnetite
• 5 Lump of Fat Wax
• 3 Lump of Grave Wax
• 3 Fulminated Mercury
• 2 Black Gunpowder
• 4 Yellow Gunpowder

Loaded Spear

Ashina Castle / Ashina Reservoir

You can miss this if you defeat the Divine Dragon. From this Idol, grapple to a tree stump to the left of the bridge to find two enemies that you can eavesdrop on. Kill them and you will receive the Gatehouse Key. From the 2 enemies, head back from where you came, but at the end of the bridge make sure you drop down to your left. Follow the route until you come across 2 trees that can be grappled to. On the second tree, you can see the Gatehouse in an area with loads of enemies (there’s a hidden drummer enemy behind the wall to your left). Take out the enemies or sneak to the Gatehouse and open it to find the tool.

In order to fully upgrade the Loaded Spear, you will need:

• 3,300 Sen
• 25 Scrap Iron
• 2 Adamantite Scrap
• 4 Scrap Magnetite
• 1 Fulminated Mercury
• 4 Black Gunpowder
• 4 Yellow Gunpowder

Sabimaru

Ashina Castle / Upper Tower – Antechamber

From this Idol, head into the middle of the tower, where you can look down to the ground floor. Jump down ad check the rooms at the bottom for a treasure chest with the tool inside.

In order to fully upgrade the Sabimaru, you will need:

• 5,100 Sen
• 24 Scrap Iron
• 8 Adamantite Scrap
• 16 Scrap Magnetite
• 4 Fulminated Mercury
• 2 Lapis Lazuli

Loaded Umbrella

Ashina Castle / Old Grave

From this Idol, jump down to your left where you should land on a roof with a hole in it. Inside the house you will find a merchant that will sell this tool for 1,600 Sen.

In order to fully upgrade the Loaded Umbrella, you will need:

• 3,000 Sen
• 10 Scrap Iron
• 2 Adamantite Scrap
• 13 Scrap Magnetite
• 4 Lump of Fat Wax
• 2 Fulminated Mercury
• 6 Yellow Gunpowder

Divine Abduction

Sunken Valley / Gun Fort

Immediately after this Idol, you will encounter a boss called Long-Arm Centipede Giraffe. After killing him, search the room to find this tool.

In order to fully upgrade the Divine Abduction, you will need:

• 1,900 Sen
• 7 Scrap Iron
• 2 Adamantite Scrap
• 4 Lump of Fat Wax
• 2 Fulminated Mercury
• 2 Black Gunpowder

Finger Whistle

Sunken Valley / Bodhisattva Valley

Kill the Guardian Ape and he will automatically drop this tool.

In order to fully upgrade the Finger Whistle, you will need:

• 2,100 Sen
• 2 Adamantite Scrap
• 8 Scrap Magnetite
• 6 Lump of Fat Wax
• 2 Lump of Grave Wax
• 1 Malcontent’s Ring

You can find the Malcontent’s Ring by going to the Poison Pool Idol in Ashina Depths. At the Idol, head to the cave where you fought the Undying Guardian Ape (you will need to have fought him and severed his immortality with the Mortal Blade) and you should see a new miniboss there called “Shichimen Warrior”. Defeating it will drop the Malcontent’s Ring.
