Trophy Guide
Resident Evil 7: Biohazard Trophy Guide and Road Map for PS4 & PS5
Welcome to our Resident Evil 7: Biohazard Trophy Guide. Resident Evil 7: Biohazard brings the series back to its survival horror roots. Gone are the over-the-top bombastic set pieces from RE5 and RE6 and in their place is a first person camera, limited inventory space, and scarce resources to fill it with.
Also new in this iteration of Resident Evil is the protagonist. Instead of playing as the battle-hardened Chris Redfield or Leon S. Kennedy players will instead take control of newcomer Ethan Winters who has no combat experience. Ethan finds himself in Louisianna at the run down Bakers’ ranch in the hope that he can find his missing wife. Will he succeed or will he uncover a plot far more sinister than he imagined? Resident Evil 7: Biohazard is available on PS4 & PS5.
Phase One – Complete Story on Easy, Collect All Antique Coins & Files, and Craft All Items
For the first phase in our Resident Evil 7: Biohazard Trophy Guide, You should play through the story on the easiest difficulty setting while also collecting all files and antique coins–for which we have a full collectible guide. You should also keep a pen and paper handy so you can keep track of which items you craft as you will need to craft at least one of each in a single playthrough.
Resident Evil 7 isn’t very hard on Easy, however, newcomers to the series might find that they simply don’t have the ammo to deal which each and every enemy they encounter. It’s recommended to preserve your resources and only kill enemies that are blocking your progress which, admittedly, can be hard to determine on your first playthrough so make sure to keep regular saves in case you mess up a section.
The last thing to keep in mind for this phase is that you will have to decide between saving two people near the end of the game before the ship section. This will lock in one of the two endings. You will need to see both endings for a trophy each.

Action-Specific Trophies
Behind Closed Doors
Close an open door by yourself
Resident Evil 7: Biohazard will tell you that you can press on an open door to close it, however, it’s not necessary to do so at any point which means this trophy is technically missable—hence why I’ve marked it down as semi-missable. Closing doors in RE7 is a useful tactic to prevent enemies from pursuing you and most players will do this naturally thus unlocking Behind Closed Doors without actually trying. If you didn’t close a door during this phase then you can do it at any point in phase two or three.
Arms in the Air
Block an enemy attack by guarding
Most players will unlock this early and without realising it as blocking—by holding —is vital to your survival during your first playthough due to being unfamiliar with where the enemies spawn and how to handle/slip by them. To unlock Arms in the Air, hold to block an attack from any enemy once.
A-ha!
Obtain something by closely examining an item
Examining objects in Resident Evil 7—like other Resident Evil games—will sometimes reveal hidden compartments or locks etc that will reward you with an additional item such as a lockpick or a key item. The first chance you get to inspect something that grants you an item is in the first Safe Room in the Main House. There is a metal lock box that can be inspected and opened to reveal a lockpick. You will also have to examine items that give you key items to progress the story quite often so this trophy potentially could be completely unmissable.
Master of Unlocking
Use a lock pick to open something
There are quite a few locked drawers in the Baker mansion which can be opened if you have a Lockpick in your inventory. Collecting all collectibles and generally going for 100% will unlock this trophy sooner or later.
Nice Try
Put an unrelated object on a shadow plinth
When you enter the Main Hall in the Old House, you will immediately see a plinth with a light opposite the table in the middle of the room. Approach it and place any item from your inventory on the plinth and then press . Nice Try should unlock after you back out of the puzzle.
Open Your Eyes
Use psychostimulants
There are quite a few psychostimulants hidden throughout RE7 and they can be quite useful. When you have one in your inventory you can consume them and every item in your area will be tagged making them easy to find for a small period of time. You don’t have to find an item while using psychostimulants to unlock Open Your Eyes, you just need to consume them once.
Duck If You Love Life
Avoid Jack’s scissor attack by crouching
While exploring the Processing Area underneath the Main House you will come across a morgue area with metal bars where you can find one of the Dog Heads needed to escape. This is also where you fight Jack for the second time. During the fight Jack will be using an axe and will be aggressively chasing after you. Damage him enough and he will eventually enter a second phase where he uses a mechanical scissor chainsaw-like weapon. While using this weapon Jack’s attacks are very clearly telegraphed and you can easily block or dodge them. To unlock Duck if You Love Me, when Jack’s torso twists and he’s about to swing his scissor weapon in a large arc press to crouch and the attack will go over your head.
In the Bag
Increase your item slots
In Resident Evil 7: Biohazard you can increase Ethan’s carrying capacity by 8 total slots. To do this—as well as unlock In the Bag—you must find a backpack. The first backpack you can find is in the Safe Room in the Old Shack at the end of the Back Porch.
Things Got Personal
Finish off an enemy with the knife
The easiest way to obtain Things Got Personal is to wait until you reach the Old House and use the knife to fight off a swarm of insects. Alternatively, you can shoot a Molded in the head twice, switch to the knife, get close and then repeatedly tap to finish them off.
Slash Slash, Slashity Slash!
Clear insects off a door using a knife
During the Old House section where you face Marguerite there will be some doors that while aren’t locked will be inaccessible because dozens of spiders will crawling over them. Typically you would use the flamethrower to clear them off, however, to unlock Slash Slash, Slashity Slash! you need to use the knife. The spiders will jump at you and damage you but it won’t be enough to kill you before you clear them off.
Back Off, Mrs. B!
Fight off Marguerite while she wanders the old house to make her run away
During the Old House section, Marguerite will patrol the house looking for you. When she spots you she will release swarms to attack you. The best way to deal with the swarms and to make Marguerite run away is to have the Flamethrower—you have to find it’s two parts and combine then—and then run into her and just hold burning her until she rushes you and pushes you to the ground. You can make a save before you attempt this if you want to reserve your resources for her upcoming boss fight in the greenhouse.
Less is More
Take down two or more enemies with one shot
Less is More is very easily obtained during the Old House section when you encounter swarms of flies. Pull out a shotgun and fire at the centre of a swarm and it should count as two kills with one shot.
Fly Swatter
Shoot and knock back Marguerite while she’s leaping at you
This trophy can be quite tricky so it’s recommended to make a manual save before the boss fight so you can have multiple shots at it. To put it simply, you need to shoot Marguerite while she is mid-leap. Periodically throughout the fight she will climb the walls and your goal is to damage her enough to drop down so you can keep attacking her. However, if you leave her alone she will eventually leap from the wall towards you. Your window is very short to land a hit on her before she lands on you so it’s ideal to do this in an open area like in the greenhouse section. It’s probably best to use the shotgun for this also since it has a wider spread.
That’s a Spicy Meat-a-ball
Kill an enemy by attaching a Remote Bomb to them and detonating it
This trophy can be quite annoying as it requires you to be grappled by one of the molded enemies on the boat while you have the Remote Bombs equipped. I would recommend you make a manual save just in case you have trouble unlocking this on the first go. To unlock That’s a Spicy Meat-A-Ball you should be on the ship and have a Remote Bomb in your hand. Stand at a medium distance from a Molded and keep baiting their grapple attack. When the right one connects you will see a prompt to attach a bomb to the enemy to kill them.
Can’t Catch Me
Complete the “Mia” videotape without being spotted by Marguerite
Out Before Dessert
Complete the “Happy Birthday” videotape within 5 minutes
You must complete this tape in under 5 minutes on your first attempt for this trophy to count. You can replay the tape any time but you won’t be able to unlock this trophy so it’s recommended to make a manual save at a typewriter–there is usually one nearby a VCR–before you play this tape. You must first grab this tape from the attic which if you’re following along with our Collectible Guide you will likely have it.
Once you have the tape you must put it into a VCR and escape the room. The solution to escape the room is rather quite simple:
- Approach the cake to begin the trial
- Interact with the padlock on the nearby cabinet and input the following code: Man, Tombstone, Fetus
- Grab the Straw Doll
- Burn the Straw Doll on the Stove to get Dummy Finger
- Relight the Candle on the Stove
- Burn the rope on the door near the screens
- Pick up the yellow balloon from the corridor
- Use the Yellow Balloon on the expose gas pipe next to the screens to get the Quill
- Take the Winding Key from the keg in the Cake Room
- Place the Dummy Finger, Quill, and Winding Key on the dummy near the entrance
- Input “Loser” in the padlock on the door in the Ballon Corridor and grab the Valve Handle
- Use the Valve Handle on the pipe in the Cake Room to turn off the water
- Relight the Candle on the Stove and Light the cake
Phase Two – Sub-4 Hour Speedrun, No Healing Items, and No Item Box
For the second phase in our Resident Evil 7: Biohazard Trophy Guide you should focus on getting the challenge trophies completed. This means you will need to finish the game in under 4 hours, without using healing items, and without ever opening the Item Box.
Of course there are exceptions to the no healing items and Item Box trophies as you will be healed automatically during some parts in the story and while taking on Lucas’ boob trap house you will need to use the Item Box to deposit all your items. These instances will not void their respective trophies.
Since it can be quite challenging for newcomers to handle all three of these challenges in a single run you can split them up into 2 or even 3 separate runs if it makes you more comfortable.
Lastly, make sure you save whomever you left behind in your first playthrough so you can unlock the other ending in this playthrough.
Speedrun Trophies
Just Get Me Outta Here
Complete the game within 4 hours
After having already completed the story at least once you should be well equipped to speedrun the entire thing within 4 hours. Since all the collectibles, with the exception of the Madhouse Coins, out of the way there’s nothing stopping you from blazing past all enemies and reaching the end. General advice for keeping your speed up is as simple as stunning enemies with a bullet or two so you can run past them without being attacked. You should also have a good idea of the layout in each area just in case you get cut off by an enemy and need a quick escape. Save your heavy hitting weapons and ammo for boss fights, and keep in mind that some rooms will despawn enemies when you leave.
Resource Manager
Complete the game without opening the Item Box more than 3 times
Completing Resident Evil 7: Biohazard without using the Item Box more than 3 times sounds a bit challenging but by this point in your platinum journey you should know what items you’ll need for puzzles and certain fights and managing your inventory shouldn’t post a problem. You can also increase your inventory as you progress which means this challenge will get easier as you go.
Walk it Off
Complete the game using only 3 First Aid Meds or less
Walk it Off is actually really easy to pull off on Easy mode as enemies don’t hit too hard and you have unlimited saves so if you’re stuck on a section or you know you’re not that good at a boss fight you can make a save and have infinite goes at getting through it with minimal damage taken. Add to this that the game will fully heal you during certain parts of the story for free and you’ll easily unlock this trophy.
Just A Memory Now
Get ending 2
Phase Three – Complete Story on Madhouse, and Collect Antique Coins
In our final phase of our Resident Evil 7: Biohazard Trophy Guide you will be making a final push towards the platinum. The hardest has been saved for last as you will now have to complete the story on the hardest difficulty; Madhouse. You will also need to collect 33 more Antique Coins that only spawn on Madhouse Difficulty.
It’s not all bad though as at this point you should have access to the Saw Blade melee weapon which is an absolutely monster for dealing high DPS to everything. It makes boss fights, even on Madhouse, almost trivial. I would advise you use this for your entire playthrough to make things easier.
Madhouse Trophies
The Nightmare’s Finally Over
Complete the game on Normal
Who’s Your Daddy Now?
Complete the game on Madhouse
Mad Pelicans

There are 33 additional Antique Coins to find on Madhouse difficulty and all of them are covered in our Madhouse Antique Coin Guide.
