Resident Evil Village Winters’ Expansion Trophy Guide and Road Map for PS4 & PS5
Welcome to our Resident Evil Village Winters’ Expansion Trophy Guide. Capcom recently released a DLC package that adds a story mode featuring Rose Winters as she tries to unburden herself of her Mutamycete powers. The Winters’ Expansion also adds a much request third person mode to the base game allowing players to play through Ethan’s story with an over-the-shoulder camera much like other Resident Evil Titles. Lastly, the DLC also adds two new Mercenaries levels which unlock the ability to play as Lady Dimitresque, Heisenberg, and Chris. The Winter’s Expansion DLC is available on PS4 and PS5 consoles.
Phase One – Finish Shadows of Rose on Hardcore Difficulty
During this stage of our Resident Evil Village Winters’ Expansion Trophy Guide you can jump straight into the Shadows of Rose story mode which is accessed via the Bonuses screen in the Resident Evil Village main menu. During your playthrough the only thing you need to worry about is using Rose’s mutamycete powers 20 times for It’s Starting to Grow on Me and crafting at least one of every item for Craftmaster.
The Shadow of Rose story mode is about 2 to 3 hours long and features a fairly decent challenge on Hardcore difficulty but veteran Resident Evil fans shouldn’t have too much trouble getting through it. You can save Hardcore difficulty later if you’d prefer.
Semi-Missable Trophies
It’s Starting to Grow on Me
Use Rose’s mutamycete powers at least 20 times
You witness Rose’s mutamycete powers a few times during the early minutes of the DLC but you won’t get to actively use them until around 30 minutes to an hour in depending on how fast you are. Once you have acquire the RW-Variant Flask 1 from the top floor of the castle you can then start using to “Focus” Rose’s powers to remove the red cores scattered throughout the story. Use Rose’s powers any time you find a red core and It’s Starting to Grow on Me will unlock after you’ve removed 20 of them.
Craftsmaster
Craft every type of item in Shadows of Rose
Like in the base game there are several crafting recipes that get unlocked throughout your playthrough in Shadows of Rose. You only need to craft one of each to unlock Craftmaster. The items and their recipes are as follows:
First Aid Med | Herb (1) + Chem Fluid (1) |
Handgun Ammo | Gunpowder (1) + Chem Fluid (1) |
Shotgun Ammo* | Gunpowder (1) + Rusted Screp (1) |
Pipe Bomb* | Rusted Scrap (1) + Gunpowder (1) + Herb (1) |
Unmissable Story-Related Trophies
Green Teen
Finish Shadows of Rose on at least Casual difficulty
See Supreme Teen.
Serene Teen
Finish Shadows of Rose on at least Standard difficulty
See Supreme Teen.
Supreme Teen
Finish Shadows of Rose on Hardcore difficulty
As previously mentioned Hardcore difficulty offers a decent challenge which might be too much for new players however old school RE players and fans of Survival Horror titles will have no trouble completing the story. As with other entries in the Resident Evil franchise the key strategy for surviving in Shadow of Rose on Hardcore is to avoid combat as much as possible and hoard your resources for the boss fights—of which there are 3 but only 2 require the use of your guns—so you don’t run out of ways to deal damage.
Phase Two – Additional Orders
In this phase of our Resident Evil Village Winters’ Expansion Trophy Guide you will be playing through the new levels added to Mercenaries mode in the Bonuses menu. You can use Chris straight away for these new levels and you should because he is quite powerful and getting A rank with him will be a cakewalk. To be clear, the trophies in this phase only specify “completing” the Additional Orders so you could likely still unlock the trophies with a B or even a C rank. Though, if you want to play as Heisenberg or Lady Dimitresque then you’ll need to acquire an A rank on all levels, not just the Additional Orders. Either way this phase should only take about 20 minutes to complete.
Village of Blood
Complete the Bloody Village in Additional Orders
Complete the Village of Blood order and acquire any rank to unlock Village of Blood.
River of Blood
Complete the Bloody River in Additional Orders
Complete the River of Blood order and acquire any rank to unlock River of Blood.
Phase Three – Clean-Up (optional)
If you decided to save Hardcore mode for later then this phase of our Resident Evil Village Winters’ Expansion Trophy Guide is reserved for your Hardcore playthrough and any other trophies you may have missed.
