Trophy Guide
How to Unlock All Trophies in Unpacking for PlayStation 4 & 5
Welcome to our Unpacking Trophy Guide. Unpacking is something of a puzzle game, but it’s very lightweight and relaxing, not demanding much from the player at all.
Due to this, you can expect a fairly short and exceptionally chill platinum journey, perfect for any Trophy Hunters out there who are looking to kick back after completing more challenging games like Elden Ring or Stranger of Paradise.
You’ll follow the protagonist’s life as they move from home to home, going to college, moving in with a partner, moving back to her hometown, and much more.
Each of the eight Chapters focuses around moving into a new home and unpacking the protagonist’s belongings, which obviously change with the times as the game progresses.
Phase One – Complete the Story
In this first phase of our Unpacked Trophy Guide, you can simply focus on completing each Chapter of the story.
If you wish to make your trophy journey shorter, however, skip ahead to Phase Two of this Unpacking Trophy Guide, where you will find all of the chapter-specific trophies.
All of the trophies in this phase are story-related and completely unmissable.
One thing I do advise you to look out for (regardless of how you choose to play) is the toilets in each chapter. Each new house you move into (except the first) has a toilet in it that can be flushed if you press on the flush handle.
There is a trophy called “Gotta flush ’em all” which requires you to flush all six toilets in the game. Something which will be much easier to accomplish if you’re looking out for them from the start.
Not that it’s a particularly difficult trophy to go back for, but it’ll just save you some time.
Unmissable Story Trophies
Make some memories
Found your camera.
One of the items you will eventually and unavoidably unpack during the game’s first Chapter is the Camera. Doing so will unlock the “Make some memories” trophy.

Due to the fact that you need to unpack and place all items to complete the chapter, the trophy is unmissable.
Love
Unpacked 2015.
The seventh chapter is set in 2015 and sees you moving a new partner into your apartment. Place all items correctly, then click on the star to complete the chapter and unlock the “Love” trophy.
No place like home
Unpacked 2018.
The eighth and final chapter is set in 2018 and sees you unpacking your childhood bedroom. Place all items correctly, then click on the star to complete the chapter and unlock the “No place like home” trophy.
Phase Two – Cleanup
Whether you’ve already played through the game once at this point, or if you’re choosing to go for a 100% playthrough from the get-go; this phase of our Unpacking Trophy Guide is dedicated to mopping up the remaining optional trophies, many of which you may unlock unintentionally.
You’ll be pleased to know that you can use Chapter Select to replay any chapter you’ve already completed.
To make things even easier, you’ll be given the option to reload the Chapter exactly how you left it at the end, with all items unpacked.
I advise that you do this because you’ll be able to very easily locate the items you need to interact with for each trophy.
Chapter-Specific Trophies
Solve a puzzle
Solved the cube.
Unlockable in: 1997, 2004
To unlock the “Solve a puzzle” trophy, you will first need to unpack a Rubix Cube, which you’ll do in both the first and second chapters.
Once you’ve placed it, move your cursor over it with and then tap on it until the puzzle is solved.
Note that, for me, the trophy didn’t unlock the first time I solved the puzzle, but I just kept mashing on the cube until it did.
Blast some tunes
Turned on a music player.
Unlockable in: All Chapters
In every chapter, you will unpack a music player of some type, the very first one is a red radio/boom-box that you’ll unpack during the first Chapter (1997).
Once you’ve placed a music player, place your cursor over it and press to turn it on, unlocking the “Blast some tunes” trophy.
Strike a pose
Made the mannequin dab.
Unlockable in: 2004, 2007
One of the items that you unpack during the second and third chapters is an artist’s wooden mannequin.
While holding this mannequin, you can press on it to change its pose. Do this a few times until it enters a “dabbing” pose. The “Strike a pose” trophy will then unlock!
A sometimes food
Put the cookie jar out of reach.
Unlockable in: 2004, 2007, 2010, 2012, 2013, 2015, 2018
One of the items you will unpack in every chapter except the first one is a Cookie Jar.
To unlock the “A sometimes food” trophy, you will need to place the Cookie Jar somewhere very high up.
I recommend doing this in Chapter 2 (2004), where one of the boxes in the kitchen contains a Cookie Jar.
Once you have it, place it on top of the shelves on the wall, and the trophy will unlock.
Electrical hazard
Put an electronic item somewhere dangerous.
Unlockable in: 2004, 2007, 2010, 2012, 2013, 2015, 2018
Every chapter from 2004 onwards will contain a bathroom and/or a kitchen. To unlock the “Electrical hazard” trophy, you need to grab an electrical appliance, such as a computer monitor or toaster, and then place it in a sink or bathtub.
Once you do so, the trophy will unlock.
One very easy way to unlock this trophy is right at the start of Chapter 2. Grab the computer monitor in the bedroom and then press to enter the bathroom.
Place the computer monitor in the bath to unlock the trophy.
Game on
Turned on a game console.
Unlockable in: 2007, 2010, 2012, 2013, 2015, 2018
From Chapter Three onwards, you will unpack a Game Console in every chapter.
Note that handheld game consoles, such as the red game boy in the first two levels, cannot be used to unlock this trophy.
To unlock the “Game on” trophy, you will need to unpack and place a console near a TV before then pressing on it to switch it on.
Even though there is already a bootleg PS2 console plugged into the TV in Chapter Three, you cannot switch it on. You can only switch on consoles you have placed.
In that same chapter, though, you will unpack a bootleg Gamecube that you can switch on once it is placed by the TV.
Hat on head
Found a head to wear the hat.
Unlockable in: 2007 only
In the third Chapter (2007), you will unpack a baseball cap from a box in your bedroom.
Take the hat to the dining room and place it on one of the heads on the shelves there to unlock the “Hat on head” trophy.
Tidy whities
Tidied up his underwear drawer.
Unlockable in: 2010 only
In Chapter Four, go to the Bedroom, open the right side of the wardrobe and then open the top two drawers. These are your partner’s underwear drawers.
Move all of the underwear from both drawers and place them neatly into just one drawer. It doesn’t matter which drawer you choose to move them to.
Once you’ve done this, the “Tidy whities” trophy will unlock.
Brew some coffee
Placed all the coffee-making equipment on the counter.
Unlockable in: 2010 only
In Chapter Four, go into the Kitchen. What you’ll need to do to unlock “Brew some coffee” is gather several items and place them all on a single countertop in the kitchen, like in the image below.
If you’re struggling to find any of these items, use the table below to reference each object’s location:
Object | Location |
---|---|
Coffee Packet | A brown packet, found in the upper-left cupboard on the top shelf. |
Coffee Drip Filter | A glass jug, found in the upper-left cupboard on the bottom shelf. |
White Mug | In the middle cupboard, on the bottom shelf. |
Coffee Grinder | On the Kitchen Island in the center of the room. |
Coffee Grinder 2 | Between the Espresso Machine and the Weighing Scales on the kitchen counter. |
Coffee Pot | In the bottom-right drawer. |
Espresso Machine | Next to Coffee Grinder 2, by the hob on the kitchen counter. |
Once all items have been located and placed together on the kitchen counter or kitchen island, the trophy will unlock.
Rediscover childhood
Rescued a forgotten poster.
Unlockable in: 2012 only
In the fifth chapter, you’re moving back into your childhood home, which means you can revisit your room from 1997.
In the cabinet on the left side of your room, look for a rolled-up poster and then put it up on the wall.
Once it’s on the wall, the “Rediscover Childhood” trophy will unlock.
12:00
Set the time on the microwave.
Unlockable in: 2013, 2015, 2018
Though other chapters in the game have microwaves, you cannot interact with any of them unless you unpack it yourself, which won’t happen until Chapter Six.
Once you’ve unpacked and placed a microwave in Chapters Six, Seven, or Eight, press over it to interact with it and set the time on its clock. Repeatedly press on it until the time is set and the “12:00” trophy unlocks.
Brilliantly solved
Wrote an equation with fridge magnets.
Unlockable in: 2013
In Chapter Six, go into the kitchen and start unpacking. Eventually, you’ll unpack some number and operation-shaped magnets, which you can place on the Fridge.
To unlock the “Brilliantly solved” trophy, place the mathematical magnets in this order: 1 + 2 = 3.
Fuzzy friends
Put the tiger and pig side by side.
Unlockable in: 2015, 2018
Throughout the game, there will be many occasions where you unpack stuffed animals and place them around each house.
One recurring stuffed animal, which can be found in every chapter, is the Pig.
By Chapter 7, a tiger stuffed animal will be introduced and you’ll need to place it in both Chapter 7 and Chapter 8.
To unlock the “Fuzzy Friends” trophy, you simply need to place the Tiger and the Pig together.
You don’t even need to put them where they belong to unlock this trophy.
Baby builder
Built a tower out of baby blocks.
Unlockable in: 2018
In the eighth and final chapter of Unpacking, go into the baby’s nursery/room and stack all of the baby blocks on top of each other.
You just need to stack five blocks to unlock the “Baby builder” trophy, but there are a lot more than just 5.
Flush All Toilets
Gotta flush ’em all
Flushed every toilet.
There are a total of seven toilets to flush in Unpacking. They can found in the following chapters:
- Chapter 2 – 2004
- Chapter 3 – 2007
- Chapter 4 – 2010
- Chapter 6 – 2013 (or Chapter 7 – 2015. The same toilet is in both chapters, and you only need to flush it during one of the two, not both)
- Chapter 8 – 2018 (There are two toilets to flush in this stage, so make sure you get them both)
To flush them, you will need to place the cursor over the flush handle and press .
Once you have flushed them all, the “Gotta flush ’em all” trophy will unlock.
You can use chapter select to go back for any that you’ve missed and you can quit back to the chapter select album at any time after flushing without worrying about whether the flush counts towards the trophy.
