All You Need to Know About Fishing in Tales of Arise, Including How to Catch all 44 Types of Fish.
Welcome to our Tales of Arise Fishing Guide. Here, we hope to help you not only make sense of the game’s fishing mechanics but also to locate and catch all 44 fish for the Godly Angler trophy.
You won’t be able to fish for quite some time. It’s not until you’re leaving Menancia with two new party members that one of them, Kisara, will stop you at a nearby pond to teach you how to fish.

After completing this tutorial, you will be able to fish at one of several Fishing Spots all throughout the world.
How Fishing Works in Tales of Arise
When you arrive at a Fishing Spot and press to use it, press
to select both a Rod and a Lure. The higher the quality of the rod you have equipped, the more you’ll be able to resist the line snapping.

The Lure you choose is much more important. The fish that you catch will depend on three factors; Location, Lure, and Attraction Combo.
You can use the Fishing Spot Guide below to see which Lure will attract which fish at which fishing spot. Having all of the Lures will be extremely helpful, though not vital to catching all 44 Fish, so make sure you check out our Lure Locations below too.
Once you’ve selected a Rod and a Lure, you will need to cast. You can aim your cast with . Move the reticule over the most active waters you can see; if it turns yellow, there’s a fish below. Casting while the reticule is yellow will make the catch minigame slightly easier.
Cast your line, and the fishing minigame will begin. First, we need to lure the fish.
On the HUD’s left side is a green circle with a thinner pulsing white circle passing through it. For best results, you will need to input an attraction combination to the beat, so whenever the white circle overlaps the green circle, press a face button to attract fish. Better timing means more excited fish.
The combination of face buttons you use while luring fish will dictate which fish are most interested in your lure. Again, you can use our Fishing Spot Guide below to see which Attraction Combos work for which fish.
Once you’ve attracted a fish to your lure and ensnared it, you’ll need to reel it in. Use to take pressure off the line by pushing it in the same direction that the fish is moving.
Occasionally, a button prompt will appear on-screen. Pressing this prompt with good timing will reduce the fish’s health by a large amount.
Repeat until the Fish’s health reaches 0 and you will catch it.
Newly-caught fish will be logged in your Field Guide’s Fishing Notes, which you can use to keep track of which fish you’ve already managed to catch.
