Trophy Guide

Pumpkin Jack Trophy Guide and Road Map for PlayStation 4

Welcome to our Pumpkin Jack Trophy Guide. Pumpkin Jack is an excellent, colorful, and downright fun Halloween game very similar to Medievil (and, in my opinion, better).

You take on the role of Stingy Jack, one of the Devil’s favorite souls, sent to the realm of the living where he embodies a jack-o-lantern attached to the body of a scarecrow. Through some relatively fast-paced combat, mild puzzle-solving, and a lot of Platforming, Jack hopes to prove himself to the devil by defeating the human Champion and securing dark days on earth.

Pumpkin Jack: Before You Begin

Glitched Trophies

Pumpkin Jack had serious issues with trophies not unlocking when it was first released in 2020, so make sure you have updated the game to its latest version before playing.

Even on the latest version, however, it is possible for some trophies to become glitched and not unlock. In my experience, this has only happened with Prying Eyes. If it happens to you, you will need to delete your save and collect the first Crow Skull again. Repeat until the trophy unlocks.

Given that the game is quite short, any trophies which do not unlock can be easily re-attempted unless this happens to one of the bigger collectible trophies like You’ve Got A Problem, Man.

Unfortunately, all I can do is let you know that these glitches are possible, and perhaps reassure you in the knowledge that it happens very rarely.

Phase One – Complete the Story

For this first phase of our Pumpkin Jack trophy guide, you simply need to beat the game’s story campaign. There are 6 levels in total and the majority of the game’s trophies will unlock simply by completing the story.

The only ones you might miss are the ones tied to collectibles, which is why our Pumpkin Jack Trophy Guide’s second phase focuses on Collectible Clean-up via Level Select. However, if you wish to avoid a whole cleanup phase, you could try to collect all 120 Crow Skulls and 6 Gramophones while you play.

If you choose to do that, our chronological Pumpkin Jack Collectible Guide will help you to ensure you don’t miss any on your way through each level; just follow along as you play!

Unmissable Story Trophies

Brand New Body

Finish the tutorial

Story

Unmissable

At the start of the story, you’ll meet a glowing green owl, an agent of the Devil, and it will instruct you on the game’s basic mechanics. Continue through this first section of the Fields level until you meet the Owl in a tree again, shortly after you double-jump across a river. After the dialogue/cutscene, the tutorial section will be completed and the Brand New Body trophy will unavoidably unlock.

Trophy Image
Trophy Image
Shovel Face

Equip the Legendary Holy Glory Shovel

Unmissable

In the first level, as you proceed through”The Fields”, you’ll eventually come to a barn where you’ll see a Shovel floating in the air, emanating a purple glow.

Walk up to the Shovel and press to collect it. The Shovel Face trophy will then unlock. As the Shovel is needed to progress, this trophy is unmissable.

Trophy Image
Trophy Image
Skull Breaker

Send a monster back to the grave

Trophy Image
Crash Boo-ndicoot

Smashing some crates with your head might solve the barn’s puzzle..

Story

Chapter-Specific

Unmissable

As part of the story, when you get about two thirds of the way through the Fields level, you will need to–quite literally–use your head to solve a lever puzzle in the barn, so that you can progress. By completing it, you will unlock the Crash Boo-ndiccot trophy, it’s a completely unmissable section of the game.

Trophy Image
Trophy Image
Curse of the Scarecrow

Kill the tyrannical Scarecrow and liberate the crows

Story

Chapter-Specific

Unmissable

The Scarecrow is the game’s first boss, found at the end of the Fields level. Defeating the Scarecrow to progress to the next level will unlock the Curse of the Scarecrow trophy.

The Scarecrow starts the fight by leaping into the air to shoot projectiles at you. Avoid the projectiles until the prompt appears, then press to have your companion knock him onto the ground, where you can land a hit on the straw-filled fellow.

He’ll throw a tantrum, stomping shockwaves into the ground, so back away while he does this. After he sinks into the ground, he’ll spawn three skeletons. Defeat them to get some health back and respawn the boss.

He’ll then leap into the air again, repeating the cycle. Hit him three times in this way and he’ll be defeated.

Trophy Image
Trophy Image
Bomberman

Complete all the underground bomb-bouncing courses

Story

Unmissable

The trophy description for Bomberman is oddly-worded. There is in fact only one bomb-bouncing course required for this trophy, which happens a short way into Chapter two; the Ancient Mines. The trophy will unlock once you complete this puzzle in order to progress.

Note that there is another Bomb-bouncing puzzle near the end of the level, but it is not required for this trophy.

Trophy Image
Trophy Image
License to Drive

Pass your abandoned minecart driving test

Story

Unmissable

The License to Drive trophy will unlock automatically near the start of the Ancient Mines level. As part of the story, you will need to ride a mine-cart through an old mine, pressing to jump over gaps in the rail, and to break down barriers. Once you complete this section and arrive at the next checkpoint, the trophy will unlock.

Trophy Image
Trophy Image
Ghostbuster

Kill the Phantom guarding the ancient mines

Story

Chapter-Specific

Unmissable

The Phantom is the second boss in the game, found at the end of the Ancient Mines level. Reach and defeat him to unlock Ghostbuster.

To defeat the Phantom, just avoid his onslaught of attacks until he drops some bombs on the platform. Hit the bombs toward him and they’ll explode when they hit him, dealing damage.

Simply repeat this three times to kill him. You can use the ghosts that spawn as a source of health, use to defeat them from a distance and gain a little health back.

Trophy Image
Trophy Image
De-Composer

Make some magic mushroom music!

Story

Chapter-Specific

Unmissable

Also in the Swamp chapter, there are a couple of pumpkin-head puzzle sections where you need to essentially play “Simon Says”. You start the puzzles by hitting a golden mushroom, which will send spores at different colored mushrooms in a specific order. You’ll then need to hit the mushrooms in that same order to complete the puzzle.

Interestingly, the solution is the same every time, so I can give you the answers to both puzzles right here:

First Mushroom Puzzle Solution:

  1. Green
  2. Green
  3. Green
  4. Blue
  5. Red
  6. Red
  7. Red
  8. Orange

Second Mushroom Puzzle Solution:

  1. Red
  2. Green
  3. Red
  4. Green
  5. Red
  6. Blue

Trophy Image
Trophy Image
Cruel Tea

Ruin the Witch and Merchant’s cruelty-free dinner

Story

Chapter-Specific

Unmissable

The Witch is the third boss in Pumpkin Jack, and you’ll face her at the end of the Cursed Swamp level. This fight has many stages;

First, you’ll need to chase the witch through the forest on horseback, avoiding obstacles and projectiles as you do so.

Once you reach her, you’ll need to hit the green potion bottles at the eyes on the tree to knock it down a level. The witch will then spawn spiked vines that you need to cut down while avoiding the flat spinning ones.

She will then start spawning potions again, which you must hit at the tree while avoiding her assistant who is trying to attack you.

Repeat this system of hitting bottles at the eyes and cutting down vines until the tree is completely destroyed. Then, just hit the Witch and her assistant three times each while they frantically run around the platform. The boss fight will then end. Interact with Jack’s head to unlock the Cruel Tea trophy.

Story

Chapter-Specific

Unmissable

This game of whack-a-mole is the Pumpkin-head puzzle for the Skeletown level, and will occur about a third of the way in. It is required that you complete this puzzle in order to make progress, so the Whack-a-Mole trophy is unmissable.

About halfway through the Skeletown level, you will need to complete a racing segment in order to progress the story. You will unlock Formula Ugh just by reaching the end of this race segment, making the trophy unmissable.

The Bigger They Are…

Be the David to Dhor’s Goliath (i.e. kill the big guy)

Story

Chapter-Specific

Unmissable

Dhor is the fourth boss in the game, and you will face him at the end of the Skeletown level. To defeat Dhor, you need to avoid him as much as possible until the humans turn up with Siege Towers filled with explosives.

Trick Dhor into attacking these Siege Towers and blowing himself up three times to kill him for good. The Siege Towers will spawn one at a time and there will be a long segment of avoiding his attacks between each one, so just be patient and play it safe.

Once you defeat him, the “The Bigger They Are…” trophy is all yours.

Trophy Image
Trophy Image
High Flyer

Go for a nice walk with Abelard the Gargoyle

Story

Chapter-Specific

Unmissable

There are two sections in the Spooky Cemetary level where you will be carried through the air by a Gargoyle. This is unavoidable and occurs as part of the story.

After the first time this occurs, you will unlock the High Flyer trophy.

Trophy Image
Trophy Image
Ain’t no rest for the wicked

Clear away all those headstones cluttering up the graveyard

Story

Chapter-Specific

Unmissable

In the Spooky Cemetary level, the pumpkin-head puzzles are essentially memory card games. You just need to match the names on the headstones in each of the puzzles into pairs and hit both of them back-to-back to destroy them.

Once every headstone has been paired-up and destroyed, the puzzle will be complete. You need to complete these puzzles to progress the story, and will unmissably unlock the Ain’t No Rest For The Wicked trophy the first time you complete one.

Trophy Image
Trophy Image
Hunger Killer

Solve world hunger (by killing Gluttony)

Story

Chapter-Specific

Unmissable

Gluttony is the fifth boss in the game, found at the end of the Spooky Cemetary level. To defeat it, avoid it’s attacks until two pillars appear in front of the boss.

Jump on one of the pillars and use it to double-jump to the portal on the boss’ chest.

At the other side of the portal, avoid the skull’s attacks while tricking it into headbutting the three pillars. Repeat this process three times and Gluttony will die, unlocking the Hunger Killer trophy!

Trophy Image
Trophy Image
The Worst Achievement Possible

Get on Santa’s Super-Duper-Duper-Naughty List

Story

Chapter-Specific

Unmissable

The Worst Achievement Possible is a trophy unlocked during “The North”, the sixth level. As part of the story, you will need to enter Santa’s Workshop as a Pumpkin Head, and then use to hit his presents back at him. However, you will need to hit a present of the right shape into the matching 2D shape floating in the air.

Each time you get the correct present into the goal shape, the red bar at the top will fill with green. Over time, the bar refills with red, so you will need to consistently hit the presents into the goals until the bar is completely green to finish this annoying puzzle.

Once you complete this puzzle for the first time, the trophy will unlock.

Trophy Image
Trophy Image
You’ll Float, Too

Reach the end of the vortex like a paper boat down a drain

Story

Chapter-Specific

Unmissable

There is a segment in The North (the sixth level) where you need to travel through a portal.

The problem is that the portal is full of debris, and you will need to use to avoid the myriad objects flying towards you. You also need to press occasionally to send your Crow friend to take care of some of the incoming enemies. Overall this section is actually pretty challenging, but it is necessary to complete the level.

Once you manage to make it all the way through the portal in one piece, the You’ll Float, Too trophy will unlock.

Trophy Image
Trophy Image
The Baddest Bad Guy

Kill the Wizard + Get the Amulet = Profit

Story

Chapter-Specific

Unmissable

The Wizard is the final boss of the game and you’ll face him at the end of the sixth level, The North, though isn’t quite the hardest boss.

As with all of the boss fights in Pumnpkin Jack, you just need to avoid the boss’ attacks until an opportunity to attack presents itself.

Wait for the Wizard to spawn four devices in the arena which fire lasers at him. When he does this, destroy them all to cause him to fall to the ground for a short moment.

In that moment, let loose and damage the boss until he takes to the air again.

Repeat this three times to unlock The Baddest Bad Guy trophy.

Phase Two – Collectibel Cleanup via Level Select

If you chose to follow our Pumpkin Jack Collectible Guide during the first phase of this Pumpkin Jack Trophy Guide, then there’s a strong chance you already have most, if not all, of the trophies in this phase.

Your objective here will be to find the remaining Gramophones and Crow Skulls in the game’s six levels, and then spend your Crow Skulls on the 6 purchasable skins for Jack.

Thankfully, the game has a Level Select option, available from the main menu. From there, you can revisit any of the 6 levels, and even see how many Crow Skulls or Gramophones you still need to find.

It will help you to note that the game remembers any you have already collected, so you do not need to collect them all in a single run. The game even saves your progress as soon as you find a collectible, so you can immediately open the pause menu and quit to the main menu once you have grabbed the remaining collectibles.
