Trophy Guide
How to Unlock All Trophies in Nickelodeon All-Star Brawl for PlayStation 4 & 5
Welcome to our Nickelodeon All-Star Brawl Trophy Guide. This game is a very shameless ripoff of Nintendo’s Super Smash Bros series and obviously aims to plug a gap in the market on other consoles. Unfortunately, the roster of characters (almost all of whom look horrendous in 3D) is underwhelming and Nickelodeon showed no respect for their IPs by allowing this game to be released in the state it was.
The controls are atrocious (although customisable) and unbelievably the game was originally released without even having any voice-acting. The devs truly phoned it in with this one.
Still, the trophy journey isn’t too bad, so if you picked this up on PS Plus or are genuinely interested in the game (nothing wrong with that) then you can use the guide below to blow through the game’s trophies in as little as 8 hours!
Phase One – Arcade Mode
We’ll start things off easy with this first phase of our Nickelodeon All-Star Brawl Trophy Guide by completing Arcade Mode with every character.
You can complete each run on Very Easy Difficulty if you wish, the difficulty you use won’t matter here. This phase will act as a good opportunity to learn each of the characters and get the hang of the controls.
The only trophy you might struggle with in this phase is Avatar State, which requires you to complete a full arcade run without losing a life. It’s likely to unlock naturally, but if it doesn’t you may need to put some time into grinding the trophy out in this phase.
Arcade Mode Trophies
Rise and Shine
Clear Arcade with 1 brawler
The Rise and Shine trophy unlocks once you’ve beat Arcade Mode with your first character. You will eventually need to beat Arcade with all Standard fighters for Everything is Connected.
Astonishing!
Clear Arcade with 5 brawlers
The Astonishing trophy unlocks once you’ve beat Arcade Mode at least once with 5 unique characters. You will eventually need to beat Arcade with all Standard fighters for Everything is Connected.
COWABUNGA!!
Clear Arcade with 10 brawlers
The COWABUNGA! trophy unlocks once you’ve beat Arcade Mode at least once with 10 unique characters You will eventually need to beat Arcade with all Standard fighters for Everything is Connected.
ACTIVATE THE PLOT DEVICE!
Clear Arcade with 15 brawlers
The ACTIVATE THE PLOT DEVICE! trophy unlocks once you’ve beat Arcade Mode at least once with 15 unique characters You will eventually need to beat Arcade with all Standard fighters for Everything is Connected.
Everything is Connected
Clear Arcade with all (standard) brawlers
To unlock “Everything is Connected,” you will need to complete Arcade with all 21 Standard Fighters which means Paid and Free DLC characters such as Garfield and Jenny are not required. To avoid any confusion, see the complete list below of fighters required for this trophy:
- Spongebob
- Patrick
- Sandy
- Aang
- Toph
- Korra
- Lincoln Loud
- Lucy Loud
- Leonardo
- Michelangelo
- April O’Neil
- Shredder
- Ren & Stimpy
- Powdered Toast Man
- Invader Zim
- Catdog
- Reptar
- Nigel Thornberry
- Helga
- Danny Phantom
- Oblina
As stated earlier, you can earn this trophy regardless of the difficulty you choose to play on. I recommend Very Easy difficulty just because it makes this phase quicker, but it can also make it a lot more boring, so play as you wish.
The best strategy, in my opinion, is to just use attacks on your opponents. If they’re on Very Easy difficulty, they should only take a few attacks to defeat.
Sometimes, enemies with really good recovery will survive for quite a while, but just keep hitting them with attacks until they’re so damaged that they shoot straight off-screen.
Avatar State
Complete an Arcade run without losing a single stock
Unlocking the Avatar State trophy requires you to complete any full Arcade run without losing a Stock. Given the fact that you need to run Arcade Mode 21 times for Everything is Connected, there’s a very strong chance that you’ll earn the Avatar State trophy naturally, especially when playing on Very Easy difficulty.
If not, you’ll need to put in a few extra runs with a character you’re comfortable using and just keep running on Very Easy until you finally succeed in completing a full run without dying a single time.
Phase Two – Sports Games
In this second phase of our Nickelodeon All-Star Brawl Trophy Guide, it’s time to tackle five very easy Sports trophies and get them out of the way.
Sports Events actually count as Local Battles, so we’ll earn the “I Want an Award!” trophy in this phase and get a head-start on the other Local Battle Trophies. I recommend using a different character for each Sporting event as that will help you to unlock Getting to Know the Family, provided you remember which ones you’ve used for the Spors Trophies.
You’ll need to play each Sports game at least once in this phase, but don’t worry there’s a good method for cheesing each of them!
Sports Trophies
I Want an Award!
Compete in your first local battle
The “I Want an Award!” trophy will unlock when you complete your first Local Battle in the “Battle” menu option on the Main Menu. This can be on Stock, Times, or Sports game modes.
If you’re following along with this Nickelodeon All-Star Brawl Trophy Guide then you should earn it for completing your first Sports match.
King of Sportz
In Sports, win a game with soccer ball vs CPUs with a 10 score lead
To unlock the “King of Sportz” trophy, you will need to complete a match of Soccer Ball with a point lead of at least 10 points. This might sound a little tricky, but it’s hilariously easy after a bit of setup.
First, it doesn’t matter which character you select for yourself or your opponent, just hit random if you want, but make sure that your Opponent’s difficulty is set to “Lvl 0.”
A CPU Player set to Lvl 0 will just stand still. You can literally just keep scoring goals while the AI does nothing to prevent it. Marvellous!
Next, before starting the match, press on the Brawler Select screen to set some custom rules. Apply the following:
- Mode: Sports
- First to Score: 10
- Ball Type: Soccer
You can do what you want with the Time Limit, it shouldn’t really affect you. Press to save your settings and then you can start the match.
I recommend the “Western Air Temple” stage simply because it’s easy to score goals on, quickly.
Now all you need to do is score 10 goals to win the match. The opponent shouldn’t score any because they can’t move, so you’re guaranteeing yourself a 10-point lead (and this trophy) as long as you don’t score any own goals.
You can reuse this method for the other Sports Trophies just make sure you change the ball in the Rules menu.
Better than the Turkey Jerkies!
In Sports, win a game with Tommy ball vs CPUs with a 10 score lead
For the “Better than the Turkey Jerkies!” trophy, use the same method as King of Sportz, but make sure you’ve set the Ball Type to “Tommy Ball” in the Rules menu on the Brawler Select screen.
Beat your opponent by at least 10 points while playing Tommy Ball to unlock the trophy.
Smashing!
In Sports, win a game with plankton ball vs CPUs with a 10 score lead
For the “Smashing!” trophy, use the same method as King of Sportz, but make sure you’ve set the Ball Type to “Plankton Ball” in the Rules menu on the Brawler Select screen.
Beat your opponent by at least 10 points while playing Plankton Ball to unlock the trophy.
Plankton Ball is a bit more annoying than other Sports modes as it’s bigger and heavier than others. You will need to use a very powerful attack to knock it into the goal in one hit, or you can just take your time.
I found that if you use Toph and then charge up her attack, it will deal enough damage to knock the Plankton Ball straight into the Goal on the Western Air Temple stage.
Going Ghost!
In Sports, win a game with yarn ball vs CPUs with a 10 score lead
For the “Going Ghost!” trophy, use the same method as King of Sportz, but make sure you’ve set the Ball Type to “Yarn Ball” in the Rules menu on the Brawler Select screen.
Beat your opponent by at least 10 points while playing Yarn Ball to unlock the trophy.
Move it, Football Head!
In Sports, win a game with football vs CPUs with a 10 score lead
For the “Better than the Turkey Jerkies!” trophy, use the same method as King of Sportz, but make sure you’ve set the Ball Type to “Football” in the Rules menu on the Brawler Select screen.
Beat your opponent by at least 10 points while playing Football to unlock the trophy.
The Football works differently to any other Ball in the Sports games, though. You need to pick the ball up and throw it instead of hitting it. To do so, stand over the ball and press + together. Your character should dip down to quickly grab the ball.
You can then throw the ball by pressing again. On the Western Air Temple map, you can just stand where the ball spawns and repeatedly pick it up and throw it into the goal without ever moving.
Phase Three – Local Play
In this third phase of our Nickelodeon All-Star Brawl Trophy Guide, you need to complete a total of 50 Local Matches (the five we did for Phase Two count, bringing the remaining total down to 45).
You will also need to play a local match at least once with every standard character, so just spend this phase playing quick matches and switching characters in-between.
Local Match Trophies
I Only Know How to Give 110%
Compete in 10 local battles
Complete 10 Local Matches of either Stock, Timed, or Sports gameplay to unlock the “I Only Know How to Give 110%” trophy. You will eventually need to complete a total of 50 matches for “GO NINJA GO!!!“
Getting to Know the Family
Play at least once with all standard brawlers in a local battle
There are 21 Standard Characters in Nickelodeon All-Star Brawl (see Everything is Connected for a full list of Standard Characters). To unlock “Getting to Know the Family” you will need to complete at least one Local Match with each character.
GO NINJA GO!!!
Play 50 local battles
Complete 50 Local Matches of either Stock, Timed, or Sports Battle Modes to unlock the “GO NINJA GO!!!” trophy. This can actually be a lot easier to achieve than you might suspect.
Since Sports mode can be used for these trophies, you can set up the rules as follows:
- Mode: Sports
- First to Score: 1
- Ball Type: Soccer
This means that by just scoring one measly goal, you will end the match. Now, let’s abuse the same method we used for the Sports trophies;
Set your opponent to Lvl 0, play on the Western Air Temple map, approach the soccer ball, and hit it into the goal. This will immediately end the match!
Rinse and repeat until the trophy unlocks. Once you have unlocked Getting to Know the Family, you will no longer need to switch brawlers between each match and can just hit rematch every time to speed things up!
Note that you don’t need to actually win 50 matches, just play them. So if you really wanted, you could set the opponent to Lvl 9 and just let them beat you every time in any game mode to reduce the amount of work you need to do yourself at this stage.
Phase Four – Online Play
In this fourth phase of our Nickelodeon All-Star Brawl Trophy Guide, we’re going to get the Online stuff out of the way. You can complete a couple of these trophies with a friend if you want, bu since you have to play 50 Online Matchmaking matches, there’s not much point.
This phase is mostly just yet another long grind, but now you’ll be playing against real opponents and not AI.
Online Match Trophies
I’m Ready! I’m Ready!
Complete an online quickplay match
To unlock “I’m Ready! I’m Ready!” just go to the “Online” option on the main menu and then select “Quick Play.”
Just pick a character and complete the match to unlock the trophy. You don’t even need to win!
Time to Scare the Opposition
Complete 10 online quickplay matches
“Time to Scare the Opposition” requires you to complete 10 matches in the Online “Quick Play” mode. Note that you, fortunately, don’t even have to win, so you can just repeatedly jump to your death to end matches faster if you want to.
World Domination is at Hand!
Complete 50 online quickplay matches
“World Domination is at Hand!” requires you to complete 50 matches in the Online “Quick Play” mode. Note that you, fortunately, don’t even have to win, so you can just repeatedly jump to your death to end matches faster if you want to.
There’s no way to track how many you’ve completed, so consider keeping a tally for peace of mind.
A Pretty Amazing Person
Defeat an opponent with a higher rating than you 5 times in online mode
The “A Pretty Amazing Person” trophy can be a little tricky as you’ll need to earn it in Competitive Play mode, where people are a bit more serious about winning.
When you play in Competitive Play mode, you’re given a rating based on how well you perform online in general For example, if you lose a lot, you’ll be given a low rating, and will be pitted against people who also have a low rating.
You can see your current rating in the top-right corner of the Online play menu and can easily compare your score to your opponents in the Vs Screen.
To unlock “A Pretty Amazing Person,” you’ll have to try and beat 5 separate people who have a higher rating than you. To help make this more possible, you can intentionally lose a few times to be given a very low rating. Then, you should have no trouble finding people who are a higher rating than you.
Try to defeat them if you can and once you are successful in doing this for the fifth time, the trophy will unlock.
Note that don’t need to beat 5 unique players, so if you find a player who’s easy to beat or willing to help and doesn’t mind rematching you, you may be able to get all 5 wins against one person!
Flawless Hair, Check!
Defeat an opponent without losing a single stock in an online battle
This “Flawless Hair, Check!” trophy is one of the hardest to unlock in the entire game… If you try to do so legitimately.
Essentially, you need to beat someone in an online match without losing any lives (stock). This is very tricky to do unless you’re just unreasonably good at this obscure smash clone or your opponents are bad. If you get lucky, though, you may run into another Trophy Hunter who is repeatedly killing themselves for the 50-match trophy.
Fortunately, if you bring a friend in then you can just boost it with them. Invite them to your game and then ask them very politely to let you kill them without resistance. Remember to do the same for them if they need it!
If you don’t have anyone ready or willing to help you with this, then I’m afraid you may need to find somebody on social media/forums or just keep fighting strangers online with a character you’re comfortable using until you eventually pull it off.
Phase Five – Misc Trophy Cleanup
In this fifth and final phase of our Nickelodeon All-Star Brawl Trophy Guide, you’ll need to take on the game’s toughest trophies. This includes defeating Level 9 CPUs under several conditions and beating a full Arcade Mode run on the hardest difficulty.
Once you’re over these final few hurdles, though, the Platinum Trophy will be all yours!
Level 9 CPU Trophies
A Worthy Opponent
Defeat a level 9 CPU in a 1v1 battle
To unlock “A Worthy Opponent” you need to defeat an enemy who is set to Lvl 9 difficulty in a Local Battle. This can actually be stacked with Unleash the DOOM! and there’s a good strategy for it here.
Dog the Mighty!
Defeat two level 9 CPUs in a team-battle where you are alone on your team
To unlock “Dog the Mighty!” you need to defeat two enemies who are set to Lvl 9 difficulty and are on the same team in a Local Battle. This can actually be stacked with Unleash the DOOM! and there’s a good strategy for it here.
Unleash the DOOM!
Defeat three level 9 CPUs in a team-battle
To unlock “Unleash the DOOM!” you need to defeat three enemies who are set to Lvl 9 difficulty and are on the same team in a Local Battle. Fortunately, there’s a great strategy for unlocking this along with Dog the Mighty! and A Worthy Opponent simultaneously.
First, go to “Battle” and then select a character you’re comfortable with. I used Korra a lot so I felt like I had the hang of her moveset and used her for this trophy.
Next, open the Rules with and apply the following rules:
- Mode: Stock
- Stock: 1
- Teams: On
- Friendly Fire: On (this means enemies might accidentally knock their teammates out!)
Next, set all three of the CPU players to be Reptar. Reptar is slow and bad at recovering, making him the perfect opponent for this.
Change all three Reptars to be on the same team and set them all to Lvl 9 Difficulty.
On the next screen, select “Space Madness” as the Stage to play on. In this stage, all of the platforms will slowly fall when you stand on them. They also constantly move slowly from right-to-left. It’s honestly a pretty annoying level to navigate, but if you get some practice in and just focus on staying away from your opponents, you’ll be okay.
The CPU on the other hand are terrible at navigating this stage and will very quickly fall to their death.
Keep retrying with this setup until it works. I only had to try twice and got lucky in my second attempt.
Very Hard Difficulty Arcade
Ultimate Tool of Destruction
Complete an Arcade run on the highest difficulty
Now, this trophy is the only one that you can’t really cheese in some way. You’re going to have to do this legitimately.
Make sure you use a character you’re comfortable with, and then start an Arcade Mode run with the difficulty set to “Very Hard.”
This actually isn’t that difficult and I was able to pull it off first time with Korra, who I was quite good with by this point in my trophy journey, but that’s not to say it wasn’t difficult. I definitely had some sweaty palms at certain points. I’m confident that with a bit of practice anyone can pull this off.
If anyone’s interested in my personal strategy, I would very frequently charge Korra’s attack up fully and use that against my opponents. It adds 25% damage to your opponent if a fully-charged hit lands, so just four of these will get them to 100% damage, primed to be punched off the map.
I then would use either the same charged attack or a + attack to knock them off the map. Typically I’d end up winning with only one Stock left, but I was able to ensure I always took one of their Stock first, giving me a good advantage.
