Trophy Guide

Fall of Porcupine Trophy Guide and Road Map for PS4 & PS5

Welcome to our Fall of Porcupine Trophy Guide. Fall of Porcupine is an artistic, story-driven indie game with an adorable art style and a lot of character. It is a very slow-paced game with a lot of unvoiced dialogue, making it a bit like an interactive novel. So, if you’ve no interest in reading a long book about a pigeon doctor who has a lot to say about everything, then you probably won’t like this game.

Alongside its snail-like pacing, the game also features spelling errors, visual glitches, and a total lack of manual saves, checkpoints, or chapter select. While these don’t detract from the game’s core enjoyment, they do make it quite a frustrating game to earn the Platinum Trophy in.

Fortunately, that’s where our Fall of Porcupine Trophy Guide comes in. All of those annoying and vaguely-described missable trophies that seek to ruin your experience have been painstakingly sought out by yours truly, and I can give you all the info you’ll need to avoid missing anything.

That said, oftentimes you will need to give up your chance at one trophy to earn another. You know what that means don’t you?

Yup—you will have to play this a minimum of two times.

Phase One | Complete the Story while collecting Missable Trophies

You’re going to have to complete two playthroughs of Fall of Porcupine in order to get every single trophy, which really isn’t as bad as it sounds. Plus, with so many missable trophies, the second playthrough will act as a safety net for you to get any that you happened to miss, like Princess Insomnia, for example.

In this first phase of our Fall of Porcupine Trophy Guide, you should enjoy the story but be very aware of the Missable Trophies. I have listed them out in the order that you should earn them to help you avoid missing any, but do read ahead so you know what to expect.

There’s a group of 6 trophies related to Mia and Karl, your two friends in the game. Only 3 of these trophies will be possible to earn per playthrough:

Additionally, there are a few trophies for which you’ll need to speak to a certain character multiple times:

  • Look for Adele near the bar in town and speak to her whenever you can until you earn Historian of Porcupine.
  • Interact with the vent in the hospital basement whenever you can until you earn Hospital Drama.
  • Look for Maggy on the schoolyard and speak to her whenever you can until you earn Escapism is not a crime.
  • Look for Frauke under the bridge and speak to him whenever you can until you earn Go with the flow.
  • Agree to listen to Irma’s story every day that she’s your patient on shift until you unlock A Big Fish.

Missable Story Trophies

That'll do, pigeon.

Have an A in total evaluation.

Missable

Misleading Description

To unlock “That’ll do, pigeon,” you need to perform so well on-shift that you get an S total evaluation at the end of your shift.

You will get an opportunity to earn this trophy every time you’re on shift, so across 2 playthroughs that’s a lot of opportunities!

Each shift, you’ll have three responsibilities added to your clipboard at the top of the screen.

Each responsibility is a minigame you need to complete and your performance in that minigame will be rated on an alphabetic scale; A being good, B being less good, C being bad.

At the end of your shift, your total ratings are combined into a final rating for the shift, usually delivered by Dr. Krokowski, Karl, or Mia.

If you successfully earn an “A” rating on all three minigames, you will get an “S” rating and the “That’ll do, pigeon” trophy will unlock.

If you’re finding this hard to accomplish, check the Accessibility options in the menu. There, you’ll find a setting called “Simple Minigames,” which makes all the minigames slightly easier.

Pump up the Jam!

Have Basketball game with Mia.

Story-Related

Missable

At the end of your second day on the job, Mia will invite you out to the School Sportsyard to play Basketball with her.

On the same day, Karl will invite you to meet him at the Bar. If you choose to go to the bar, you can unlock Drinks and Games, but will be locked out of this trophy. Consequently, if you go to meet Mia and unlock this trophy, Drinks and Games will have to be earned on another playthrough.

If you wish to unlock this trophy on your current playthrough, leave the hospital at the end of your shift and she’ll be waiting for you outside, before leaving via the right end of the hospital car park.

Follow her out and then make your way to the school, where you’ll see an open gate.

Head inside to find Mia there. Simply complete the minigame and you’ll unlock “Pump Up The Jam” regardless of your score or if you win.

Drinks and Games

Play the bar game.

Missable

During your second day on the job, Karl will invite you out to the Bar with him after work.

On the same day, Mia will invite you to meet her for Basketball. If you choose to go to the schoolyard, you can unlock Pump up the Jam!, but will be locked out of this trophy. Consequently, if you go to meet Karl and unlock this trophy, Pump up the Jam! will have to be earned on another playthrough.

If you wish to unlock this trophy on your current playthrough, leave the hospital at the end of your shift and ignore Mia’s request.

Make your way to the bar in Town and speak to Karl. Together, you’ll play a Board Game, after which you will unlock Drinks and Games.

Second Shower

Clean Finleys Face completely.

Story-Related

Missable

At the start of your first Night Shift, on the way into work, you’ll get white paint splashed all over you. Despite a modest attempt at washing the paint off, you’ll make your way to work with a few splotches still on your feathers.

Make your way up to the third floor where you work, but before completing any of your tasks for the day, head to the Restroom on the far-right end of the hall.

Press on the door and Finley will head inside to wash off the rest of the paint.

A Juggler's Tale

Balance the tennis ball for 5 seconds.

Missable

In Finley’s apartment (where you begin and end each day) there is a Tennis Ball on the ground that you can push around by running into it.

This absolutely unruly physics object is near-impossible to control and certainly doesn’t bounce high enough for you to “juggle” it in the traditional sense. However, by running at the ball while pushing it back and forth in the apartment, you’ll be able to keep it bouncing.

All you need to do for the “A Juggler’s Tale” trophy is keep the ball in motion for 5 seconds. Even if it touches the ground. Just run back and forth in your apartment with the ball in front of you until the trophy pops. It’s a bit finicky so may take a few attempts.

Historian of Porcupine

Learn the history of Porcupine.

Missable

In Porcupine, near the bar, you’ll find a goat character called “Adele,” who tells you that she’s the oldest person in Porcupine.

As such, she has a lot of knowledge to share about the village. To unlock the “Historian of Porcupine” trophy, you will need to go out of your way to visit and speak to Adele whenever you can between shifts and when she asks if you want to hear what she has to say, you need to accept.

Keep this up just a handful of times and you should have the Historian of Porcupine trophy once you speak to her on the day after the big overnight storm (when you unlock Dusk).

Hospital drama

Listen to the unknown voice.

Missable

In the basement of the Hospital, on the far-right side, above the entrance to the Hospital Archives, you will find a pipe with a large vent on it.

Jump up onto the cardboard boxes, then the pipe, and then enter the vent, where you’ll see a dialogue prompt.

Press on this prompt to listen in on a conversation elsewhere in the building.

You will need to remember to come down to the basement and listen in on this vent every day until the Hospital drama trophy unlocks. It took four visits for me.

Cooking Mia!

Cook dinner with Mia.

Missable

The day after Karl’s suspension, Mia will come to meet you after work and invite you to come to do some cooking at her home.

You will have two options here:

  • If you choose to go with her, you will be able to unlock this Cooking Mia! Trophy, but will be locked out of Take it from the rich, meaning you will need to earn that one on your next playthrough.
  • If you choose not to go with her, you will be able to meet up with Karl at the Supermarket and unlock Take it from the rich, but you will be locked out of this Cooking Mia trophy and will need to earn it on your next playthrough.

If you wish to unlock this trophy on your current playthrough, read on, otherwise, see Take it from the rich.

Choose to spend the night at Mia’s where you’ll complete a Cooking Minigame, after which the Cooking with Mia! trophy will unlock.

Take it from the rich

Give away the stolen grocery bags.

Missable

The day after Karl’s suspension, Karl will call you in the middle of your shift and invite you to meet him at the Supermarket after work. Mia will come to meet you at the hospital entrance after work and invite you to come to do some cooking at her home.

You will have two options here:

  • If you choose to go with her, you will be able to unlock the Cooking Mia! Trophy, but will be locked out of this Take it from the rich trophy, meaning you will need to earn this one on your next playthrough.
  • If you choose not to go with her, you will be able to meet up with Karl at the Supermarket and unlock Take it from the rich, but you will be locked out of the Cooking Mia trophy and will need to earn it on your next playthrough.

If you wish to unlock this trophy on your current playthrough, read on, otherwise, see Cooking Mia.

Decline Mia’s offer and then go meet Karl. The story from here will involve you completing a minigame to get some groceries with Karl.

At the end of the minigame, the Take it from the rich trophy!

Princess Insomnia

Bring Emma her book.

Missable

On the day of the Harvest Festival, when you arrive at work for the Night Shift, before you do anything else, go to the Break Room on the Third Floor. There, you’ll find Emma the little owl, who will tell you she left her book in the Cafeteria.

Go down and enter the Cafeteria on the ground floor. Inside, on one of the tables, you will find a picture book. Press to grab it.

With the book, go up to the Third Floor of the hospital and enter the breakroom. Give Emma her book, then lead her back to her room and the Princess Insomnia trophy will unlock!

This trophy is very easy to miss, so try to grab it on your second playthrough if you miss it in your first!

A Big Fish

Listen to every Irma story.

Missable

At a certain point early in the story, a new patient comes into the hospital to stay in room P31. This is Irma, Giuliano’s mother.

You will need to look after Irma every day that you’re on shift, she’ll always be included in your tasks for the day. When you visit her for her daily checkups, however, she will typically offer to tell you a story. Accept her offer and hear her out every single time and you will eventually unlock the A Big Fish trophy.

If you miss an opportunity to hear one of her stories, you will need to attempt this trophy again in another playthrough.

Note that the final story that Irma tells is party of the story and cannot be missed.

Planks that mean the world

Rehersal with the theatre crew.

Missable

The day after Finley’s first death, when you leave Giuliano’s at the end of the day, You will check your phone. From there, you have two choices;

  • Call Karl Back If you choose this option you will be able to unlock the Snowball Armageddon Trophy, but will be locked out of this Planks that mean the world trophy, meaning you will need to earn this one on your next playthrough.
  • Call Mia Back If you choose this option, you will be able to unlock this Planks that mean the world trophy, but you will be locked out of the Snowball Armageddon trophy and will need to earn it on your next playthrough.

If you wish to unlock this trophy on your current playthrough, read on, otherwise, see Snowball Armageddon.

Call Mia Back and then go meet up with her.

At the end of the Theatre Rehearsal minigame, speak to Mia again, and the Planks that mean the world trophy will unlock at the end of your chat!

Snowball Armageddon

Have a snowball fight with Karl.

Missable

The day after Finley’s first death, when you leave Giuliano’s at the end of the day, You will check your phone. From there, you have two choices;

  • Call Mia Back If you choose this option you will be able to unlock the Planks that mean the world Trophy, but will be locked out of this Snowball Armageddon trophy, meaning you will need to earn this one on your next playthrough.
  • Call Karl Back If you choose this option, you will be able to unlock this Snowball Armageddon trophy, but you will be locked out of the Planks that mean the world trophy and will need to earn it on your next playthrough.

If you wish to unlock this trophy on your current playthrough, read on, otherwise, see Planks that mean the world.

Call Karl Back and then go meet up with him.

At the end of the Snowball Fight minigame, the Snowball Armageddon trophy will unlock!

Go with the flow

Learn everything from Frauke.

Missable

On most days, if you go left from Finley’s apartment and down the stairs, you’ll find a lawn chair by the river which may or may not have Frauke in it.

Check under this bridge every day that the game will let you, and speak to Frauke if he’s there.

Eventually, you’ll both have a very synchronous conversation that ends with the line “Go with the flow.” After this conversation, the Go with the flow trophy will unlock!

Escapism is not a crime

Write a comic story.

Missable

Most days, you can find a little Yak character called Maggy at the schoolyard, near the skate ramp. This character has a dream of writing a comic one day, and Finley decides to help her out!

Talk to her and choose to help her write their comic. You’ll have several opportunities to give your opinion on names for places/people in the story before Maggy gives up for the day.

You will need to visit the Skate Park at the Schoolyard once a day from then on to finish writing the story with Maggy!

After three sessions, you’ll have a complete story ready to go, and the “Escapism is not a crime” trophy will unlock.

Note: My third conversation with Maddy was on the day of the protests, before visiting Karl after work, but it felt like I shouldn’t have been able to go there, due to a strange visual glitch. I suspect that perhaps I missed an earlier opportunity to speak to Maddy, but because the game allows you to go to the Schoolyard on this day, you get an extra chance to speak to Maddy. That’s just a theory though… (I won’t say it.)

Unmissable Story Trophies

Was it a dream?

Dream about the last day of summer.

Unmissable

The night of the Harvest Festival, on your night shift, you’ll stay up late with one of your patients, Irma. After she tells you one of her signature stories, you’ll unlock the “Night” trophy.

If you listened to Irma’s stories on all of your shifts, you will also unlock the missable “A Big Fish” trophy here.

Dawn

Keep it up.

Story-Related

Unmissable

Towards the end of the story, the “Dawn” trophy will unlock unavoidably.

Note that there are no other trophies you can earn in a playthrough after this point, so if you wanted to you could start your second playthrough as soon as you earn this trophy.

Phase Two | Do It Again!

After completing the story for the first time, you should have 3 of the 6 trophies that cancel each other out and at least a good handful of other Missable Trophies.

This second playthrough will be your chance to get the other 3/6 trophies, here’s a reminder:

Additionally, if you missed any other trophies in your first playthrough, you must earn them in this playthrough or you’ll have to play another partial playthrough to mop up.

After the credits, you will be returned to the main menu with your only choice being “New Game”—no going back to your old saves now!

Start your second playthrough after vigilantly reading all of the Missable Story Trophies, being sure that you know which ones you still need and what’s going to be required to earn them.

This won’t end up being a full playthrough to the end of the game, but in order to get either Planks that mean the world or Snowball Armageddon, you will end up playing a good 75-80% of the story a second time.
