Trophy Guide

Dirt 5 Trophy Guide and Road Map for PlayStation 4 & PlayStation 5

Welcome to our Dirt 5 Trophy Guide. Dirt 5 is, unsurprisingly, the fifth game in the Dirt series. Unlike other games in the series, however, Dirt 5 has a much more approachable and Casual-friendly Trophy Journey.

Being less of a serious simulator-like game than its predecessors, with much less demanding trophy requirements, it’s a great game for newcomers, with something for gamers of all skill levels.

Phase One – Career Mode

The first main objective to tackle in this Dirt 5 Trophy Guide is to complete every single event in the Career Mode. You don’t need to win every event or any of the secondary objectives.

You can finish every race in 9th if you want, although that might leave you having to grind XP for Superstardom and Dollars for Checks and Balances. To ensure a shorter trophy journey, you should try to finish in at least the top three, and play with cars that have a 1.2X Rewards Bonus.

This can be tough on the default difficulty settings, but after completing the tutorial at the start of the game you’ll be given access to the difficulty settings. You can play on “Very Easy” Difficulty with no consequences, and can turn on as many Driving Assists as you like.

I recommend turning Auto-Braking off simply because it’s annoying and takes all of the fun out of the game, but everything else can be turned on.

You may find Very Easy difficulty to be too easy, because you can finish every race in first place with almost no effort, but it is the best way to ensure you get a lot of EXP and money.

While playing every event in Career Mode, you will unlock a lot of unmissable story-related trophies and a couple of other misc trophies that become unmissable thanks to the fact that you’ll experience every map and event.

No Event Left Behind

Complete every Career Event

Story

Grind

To unlock No Event Left Behind, you will need to complete every single event on the Career Race Selection Screen at least one time.

You do not need to win these races (though you should try to so that you can ensure you earn enough money for Checks and Balances.) Simply finishing each race one time will be enough to unlock the trophy.

You can either do this as you play through the career (like I did), or you can blast your way through to the end of the Career and then clean up the remaining Races afterward.

Long Jump

Jump 50m distance in a single jump

Unmissable

The Long Jump trophy is unmissable. You will unlock it during one of the very first races in the Career Mode; “The Crusher” Stampede in Foci Di Giovo, Italy.

Near the end of each lap, there’s a long jump which is just long enough to unlock the trophy.

I’ll Show Them! I’ll Show Them All!

Unlock all Throwdowns in the career

Story

In the Career Menu, there’s a tab called “Throwdowns”.

These 1v1 events let you compete against your rivals, but you actually won’t need to complete any of them on the road to the Platinum Trophy. You can ignore them completely.

For the “I’ll Show Them! I’ll Show Them All!” trophy, you simply need to unlock these events. Now, the unlock requirements for them are a secret, and the game won’t tell you how to unlock them, or even notify you when a new one is unlocked.

Fortunately, you can just ignore that too.

If you’re doing as we advised, and playing through the Campaign by completing every event at least once, you will have unlocked all 13 Throwdowns about halfway through Chapter 5.

Phase Two – 10000 Miles & Miscelaneous Trophies

With the Career Campaign complete, you will likely have unlocked a lot of the additional misc trophies listed below, but have a browse and see what you might still need.

There’s one trophy here you’re definitely still going to need, unless you played the Campaign through twice for some reason. “Spare Some Change for Gas?” requires you to travel a total of 1,000 miles, and is hands-down the game’s biggest and longest grind.

If you’re enjoying the game and want to play online or enjoy Time Trials for another 7-10 hours then, that’s great and you can go ahead and do that.

If not, and you just want everything over with asap, then there are some methods for getting the rest of your Miles clocked in with minimal effort in about 5 more hours.

1000 Miles Trophy

Trophy Image
Trophy Image
Spare Some Change for Gas?

Drive 1,000 miles

Grind

This is probably going to be the last trophy you unlock and it asks of you far more than any other trophy in the game. The extremely long grind associated with this trophy will extend your platinum journey by up to 10 hours.

The trophy originally required you to drive a whopping 10,000 miles, but this was later patched down to 1,000, thankfully. Make sure you’re playing the latest version of the game, or you risk being faced with that monumental challenge.

You can track the number of miles you’ve driven so far by selecting “Profile” from the main menu, and then selecting “Stats”. Within, you’ll see some main stats highlighted at the top of the page, including “Distance Driven”.

After you’ve completed the Career, this will be sitting between 450 and 500 Miles. This means that you need to go out and drive the equivalent of the entire Career Mode again.

This stat is tracked across all game modes; Career, Free Play, and Playground. This leaves us with a few methods you can use to earn more miles:

Firstly, you could just replay the Career. Doing it once got you halfway there and if you enjoyed it, you might as well, right?

Alternatively, you could go into Free Play and use Time Trials to increase your mileage.

The final, and best method, is to use Playground Mode. If you load up PlayGround Mode and go to the “Discover” menu, you’ll see that there’s a “Search” option.

Use it to search the word “Miles” and you’ll see a big selection of maps created with the express purpose of helping you unlock this trophy.

Most of them are created so that you can just hold down and your car will make it around the whole course. This way, you can just use a rubber band or some other tool to keep held down and then go watch Netflix or something.

By using this method you should earn around 80-120 miles every hour. It’s by far the quickest and easiest way to earn the “Spare Some Change For Gas?” Trophy.

The trophy won’t unlock mid-race, you will need to finish whichever event you’re in for the racked-up miles to be added to your total, so once you think you’ve driven enough, finish the event and see if the trophy unlocks.

If it doesn’t, go back to your profile stats to review your current mileage and gauge how far off you are.

Miscelaneous Trophies

+10 HRSPRS

Save your first customised livery

To unlock the +10 HRSPRS trophy, you just need to create and save your very first custom Livery. You can do so any time you’re selecting a vehicle at the start of a race, or by going to “Garage” and choosing the car you wish to make a Livery for.

In the Livery Selection screen, choose “Create” to open the Livery Editor.

There, change anything you like. Go ahead and make a full-blown masterpiece, or just add a custom pearlescent paint job to the whole car; whatever you want to do.

When you’re done, press to exit, and then choose “Save and Quit” from the options that appear.

The trophy will unlock after the editor has closed.

Fast Cars and Fancy Cards

Customise and save your player card

You can unlock Fast Cars and Fancy Cards from the very start of the game.

From the Main Menu, go to “Profile” at the bottom, and then choose “Player Card”.

There, choose any of the alternative Cards, Lanyards, Nicknames, Stickers & more via the tabs. Switch tab using & and customize your card until you’re happy and then press to close the editor and save your changes.

The trophy will unlock once you’re returned to the Profile Menu.

Stuntmasta’

Score 30,000 or higher in a Career Gymkhana event

Gymkhana events are, in my opinion, the hardest events in the game by far.

If you want to unlock the Stuntmasta’ trophy, you will need to choose any Gymkhana event in the Career mode, and then rack up a whopping 30000 points by completing tricks and earning score multipliers.

The best method is to load up the “American Drifer” Gymkhana Career event at Mesa Valley, Gymkhana C.

There, complete two laps around the outside of the arena, hitting pink bonus blocks, going over jumps, and drifting around corners to build up a score multiplier. Once you have a multiplier of 2x, drive to the nearest Donus Square (purple platform) and perform a donut.

Keep this donut going until the timer expires and you should just make it to 30000 points.

I’m not going to lie, this will take a lot of practice and a few attempts unless you’re just particularly good at these events.

I recommend completing each attempt, though, regardless of your score. This way you’ll earn extra EXP and Money, useful for other trophies.

Gonna Need New Tyres

Complete a 100m drift

To drift in Dirt 5, you press while turning with to swing your vehicle’s rear end out and start drifting. You then need to try and maintain this sideways-on velocity with careful use of and to avoid spinning out or straightening up too much.

To unlock Gonna Need New Tyres, you just need to drift for 100 meters. This can be difficult to do when you’re not used to drifting, but it should eventually occur naturally throughout your career once you get the hang of it.

I actually unlocked it by accident while doing the Career’s first Sprint event because I wasn’t sure how the event worked and couldn’t get control of the bizarre cheese-wedge vehicles, causing me to drift wildly throughout the entire course.

Aside from sheer accident, the easiest place to work on this trophy is in Gymkhana events, which are essentially built for drifting.

To alleviate the pressure of doing well, you can press while a Gymkhana event is highlighted to open Practice Mode, in which you can drift all you like. Just practice the course over and over until you get the hang of drifting, and then use your newfound experience to sling yourself through a 100m drift and unlock the trophy.

Practice Makes Perfect

Complete 10 clean laps

Cumulative

To complete a “Clean Lap”, you need to complete a full lap of a race without coming into contact with any walls, barriers, racers. You also won’t be able to hit cones or debris, you should basically avoid touching anything that isn’t the road.

It is very likely that this trophy will unlock naturally as you play through Career Mode, especially if you make an effort to complete at least one lap in each race without colliding with anything.

You can track your progress by selecting “Profile” on the main menu, then going to “Stats” and scrolling down on the “Global” tab until you see “CLEAN LAPS”.

If you are struggling, you should load up the Career Race “Jormungandr” in Hans Circuit, Norway. It is part of the “Acceleration” chapter and consists of 5 very short laps on a simple pill-shaped circuit.

Trophy Image

Checks and Balances

Earn a total of $1,000,000

Grind

Cumulative

The Check and Balances trophy requires you to earn a total of one million dollars throughout the course of the game. You do not need to have $1000000 at one time, the trophy is cumulative and so every dollar you earn counts towards the total, even if you spend it.

The trophy is likely to unlock throughout your attempts to complete every event in Career Mode for No Event Left Behind, especially if you place within the top three in as many races as possible.

You can track how many Dollars you’ve earned so far by going to the “Profile” option from the Main Menu, then selecting “Stats”.

It is the top-right stat in the “Global” tab.

Blank Slate

Build and test your first Playground

Online

The Blank Slate Trophy requires you to create a Playground in Dirt 5. You can do so by going to the “Playground” option in the Main Menu and selecting “Create”, then “New”.

Choose the Location you want to build in and then choose the game mode you want to make a map for.

Choose “Create” and place as many obstacles as you want to, even just one obstacle will be enough, but note that some modes will have required parts like start and end gates.

Once you’re ready, press to return to the editor menu and choose “Test”.

Your vehicle will be dropped into the map and the trophy will unlock. You can then close the Playground Editor and don’t need to save your map.

Everyone’s a Critic

Rate a Playground

Online

For Everyone’s a Critic, you simply need to play another player’s map in Playground mode, and rate it once you are done.

Go to Playground from the Main Menu, then choose “Discover”. Choose any map you like the look of and complete the event.

At the end of the event you will have three options; “More of this”, “Skip”, and “Less of this.”

Choose either “More of This” or “Less of This” to submit your opinion and unlock the trophy.

Superstardom

Reach level 50, becoming a Superstar

After each race, you will earn a small amount of EXP.

If you use a car with relatively low specs, you’ll have a higher Rewards Multiplier, up to 1.2X. This multiplier will increase the amount of exp you receive at the end of the race.

Additionally, you will get more EXP depending on where you place at the end of the race, with first-place offering the greatest EXP gains.

If you complete every race in Career with a 1.2X Rewards Multiplier and finish in first for as many as possible, you will likely unlock the Superstardom trophy naturally by the time you reach the end of the Career.

Otherwise, you could be as low as Level 40 by the end of the Career. If so, you can easily farm EXP by completing races on “Hans Circuit”. These very short races last about a minute and a half each time due to the extremely short circuit.

You’ll get around 200XP or more per race, so just replay these events until you successfully reach Level 50.
