Trophy Guide

Chorus Trophy Guide and Road Map for PS4 & PS5

Welcome to our Chorus Trophy Guide. Chorus is a very interesting blend of RPG and space-flight sim, and the closest thing I could probably liken it to would be ManEater. The controls are rather arcade-y, and any semblance of science fact is completely overwritten by a heaping dose of Science Fiction that oftentimes reads as Star Wars/Mass Effect Fan Fiction.

That said, I found the game’s relatively short campaign to be quite compelling, and the various psychic abilities you have at your disposal actually do a lot to increase the tempo of what would otherwise be frustrating interstellar combat sequences.

I also found exploring the vast and eerily silent regions of space to be quite thrilling, amplified by an almost eldritch layer of cult-like mystery. On top of that, the trophy journey is relaxing, for the most part. Nothing is missable so you can just tackle the story at your own pace and then mop up later, or go full completionist mode and complete everything as you go.

Our Chorus Trophy Guide is aimed more at those who wish to employ the former approach, but you can skip ahead to Phase Two to see what is in store and tackle it as you go!

Phase One | Complete the Story

Throughout this first phase of our Chorus Trophy Guide, you need only focus on progressing the story—on any difficulty you like.

There are no missable trophies, but you can really minimize your cleanup phase by ensuring you do the following as you play:

  • Complete Side Quests—You’ll need to complete 35 for Paragon. There are far more than 35 in the game, but you’d do well to complete them as you get them until the 35 are complete.
  • Look for Memories—You’ll need 25 for Voices from the Past. Again, there are many more than just 25 available throughout the game.
  • Keep an Eye on Masteries—This has the biggest potential to trip you up at a later date. In your menu, there’s a section called Masteries. Via this section, you can track your progress on various challenges that, when progressed, will upgrade your ship and abilities. Complete them as you play if you can. The closer to Level 5 you are in each Mastery, the less cleanup you’ll be left with later. The most efficient platinum journeys will involve heavily monitoring Mastery progress.

Story-Related

Unmissable

You will receive the “Rise as One” trophy when the main campaign’s final cutscene begins. Don’t worry about finishing the story as you can come back into the game from the start of the final mission for cleanup and won’t be locked out of anything crucial.

Phase Two | Cleanup

After you’ve beat the game, you’ll be returned to the Title Screen but will see a “Continue” option at the top. Via this, you can return to the game just before the final mission and explore the various maps as before. Now you can clean up any leftover trophies by completing side missions and going to unexplored reaches of the game’s Map.

It is important to note, however, that any progress you make on Masteries in the Final Mission is not saved. And although you can replay the mission, your progress on masteries will reset each time you continue the game. That said, if you happen to unlock a Mastery trophy while playing the Final Mission you obviously can’t have that taken away!

There are many points in the final mission where enemies spawn infinitely. You can exploit this to unlock many Masteries but finishing the mission will reset your Mastery progress. It’s worth noting, however, that the trophy system will remember any masteries that you reached Level 5 with, even if the game resets them. So you could just reach Level 5 with each one one-by-one in the final mission, unlocking the relevant trophies once each Mastery has been Level 5 at least once—even if most of them are not Level 5 anymore due to resets.

Side Quest Trophies

Helping Hand

Finish 5 side missions

Cumulative

You will unlock the Helping Hand trophy while working on Paragon, which requires you to complete 35 Side Missions.

Paragon

Finish 35 side missions

Grind

Cumulative

Side Missions are quite easy to find in Chorus. More often than not, when you approach a “?” on the map, you will see a Side Mission icon, which are small silver downward-facing arrows.

Approaching this icon will reveal a Side Mission which you can choose to accept or ignore. Overall there are around 50 Side Missions in the game, maybe more, so there are plenty more than just the 35 you need to complete.

Side Missions don’t disappear or expire so you’re free to complete them as you discover them or just leave them to clean up later.

Relentless

Win a race

To unlock the “Relentless” trophy, you need to win a race event. Quite a few Side Missions will count as race events, even ones that feel nothing like a race. However, if you don’t earn this trophy naturally in your pursuit of the Paragon trophy, you should go to a location called “Pilot Training” in Stega Central:

There, you will find a Side Mission called “Young Ambition,” which involves a race with a would-be fighter pilot. You can replay the mission as many times as you like until you beat him. I recommend taking a look at your equipment in the “Ship” tab of the menu and making sure you have some max speed or boost mods equipped.

The Great Destroyer

Kill 75 enemies while controlling a Spirit-class ship

Spirit Class Ships are huge destroyer battleships many multiples the size of Forsaken. At various points throughout the game, mostly in Side Missions, you’ll be given an opportunity to pilot one of these Spirit Class destroyers and use it to rip through enemy forces.

All you need to do is kill a cumulative total of 75 enemies while piloting a Spirit Class. There are more than enough opportunities to do this so if you don’t have this trophy naturally by the time you’ve earned PAragon, just keep heading to “?” icons on the map to find more Side Missions and more Spirit-Class Ships you can pilot.

Misc Combat Trophies

Phoenix

Use a repair drone while having less than 10% HP

Unlocking the Phoenix trophy is simple; just press to use your Repair Drone when your health bar is below 10% filled.

You will unlock the Repair Drone quite early in the story and from then on can activate it at any time via to refill your health (though it has quite a long cooldown.)

Born to Drift

Kill a total of 50 enemies while drifting

Cumulative

At any point, you can hold to enter “Drift Trance.” While in this state, your ship will turn much quicker than usual, but your momentum will deteriorate quickly.

To unlock the “Born to Drift” trophy, you need to destroy a cumulative total of 50 enemy ships while Drift Trance is active. This is pretty easy to farm by replaying the Final Mission if you’re struggling to find a good spot for this.

To be honest, you don’t even really need to be “drifting.” As long as you’re holding to keep Drift Trance active while you shoot down enemies, you’ll gain progress toward the trophy.

Kills while drifting is actually one of the Combat Masteries so you’ll end up doing this far more than just a mere 50 times.

Showoff

Kill 3 enemies in one drift

Non-Cumulative

Killing three enemies in a single drift is a lot easier than it seems, especially if you can find three or more stationary enemies such as Turrets. Just equip your most powerful and most accurate weapon, begin drifting, and then do not let go of until you’ve killed three enemies (even if your drift runs out of momentum). Upon successfully doing so, the Showoff trophy is yours!

Huntress

Use the Rite of the Hunt to leap at an enemy and destroy it within 5 seconds

Time-Sensitive

Once you have unlocked the Rite of the Hunt via the story, you will be able to press in combat to activate it, teleporting you behind the nearest enemy. It’s an incredibly useful ability.

To unlock the “Huntress” trophy, you simply need to press to teleport behind an enemy and then kill that enemy within 5 seconds. This is very easy to do on lower-level ships and with higher-tier endgame weaponry but is also likely to occur naturally as this maneuver is a big part of the gameplay.

Two Birds

Use the Rite of the Star to spear two enemies in one go

Non-Cumulative

Once you have unlocked the Rite of the Star as part of the story, you will be able to hold to activate it in combat. It turns your ship into a bright spear that damages everything it flies through.

With some good timing and aim, you can easily spear several enemies at once with this ability, though it may take a little bit of practice. Upon successfully destroying two enemies with a single use of the Rite of the Star ability, you will unlock the “Two Birds” trophy.

It Was An Accident

Destroy 5 enemies by disrupting them with the Rite of the Storm

Cumulative

Once you have unlocked access to the “Rite of the Storm” ability, you can press to zap nearby enemies with a bolt of lightning that stuns them momentarily, causing them to spin out.

While spinning, they retain some of their initial momentum, meaning they can often collide with obstacles or other ships, blowing up in the process. To unlock the “It Was An Accident” trophy, you just need to cause this to happen 5 times.

This is actually one of the objectives for a Mastery and you’ll end up having to do this a lot more than just 5 times anyway.

Crash Test

Use the Rite of Control to smash two ships into each other

Once you have access to the “Rite of Control,” which you will receive automatically as part of the story, you can press to grab nearby ships and suspend them in space around you. You can then press again to launch said ships in the direction of your reticule.

One of the best ways to destroy enemies with this ability is to grab one enemy and then throw it at another, causing them to explode when they collide. Upon doing this for the first time, you will unlock the “Crash Test” trophy.

That said, this objective is shared by one of the Rite Masteries, so you’ll end up needing to do it more than just once.

Radiation Area

Kill 3 enemies with a Tier 3 missile's radiation cloud

Cumulative

Before you can unlock the “Radiation Area” trophy, you will need to acquire the “Poisoned Spear” Missile weapon. To acquire it, go to the Nimika System and complete a Side Mission called “Civilian Convoy: Distress.”

Once unlocked and equipped on your ship, you will be able to fire poisonous missiles that leave an orb of radiation at the point of detonation. This radiation field can damage opponent ships.

To unlock the “Radiation Area” trophy, you must kill a cumulative total of three enemies with the radiation effect of the Poisoned Spear weapon. The requirements are rather strict so most kills with this weapon won’t count, but if you just keep using it and leaving radiation fields everywhere, you’re bound to make progress.

Turrets are good for this trophy as they can’t leave the radiation field. You can just shoot next to a turret and then let the radiation sap its health away.

Controlled Demolition

Defeat an armored enemy with a Gatling gun

Armored enemies have yellow health bars instead of red ones. Because of their thicker hull, the game teaches you very early that it is more effective to take them out with missiles than any other weapon, so there’s a good chance you won’t earn the “Controlled Demolition” trophy naturally.

That said, it’s not hard to go after. Just look for an enemy with a yellow health bar—they’re very common towards the end of the game—and then kill them exclusively using your Gatling Gun .

Overcharged

Overcharge your energy bar by using the Tier 3 laser weapon

Before you can unlock the “Overcharged” trophy, you need a special Laser Weapon called “Void Ray.” To unlock Void Ray, you will need to begin a Side Mission in Nimika called “Blessed Disciples.”

This very long Side Mission chain leads to you meeting and aiding several trainees. Eventually, the Side Missions conclude with a Side Mission called “The Final Lesson,” after completing this mission you will receive the Void Ray.

The Void Ray is an interesting weapon. When you successfully kill an enemy with Void Ray, they leave behind a cloud of purple Rite Energy. By flying through this cloud you can recharge and even overcharge your Rite Energy.

Collect these clouds and overcharge your Rite Energy to unlock the Overcharged trophy!

Mastery Trophies

Mastery of Weapons

Achieve full mastery of weapons

Cumulative

Mastery of Weapons is the easiest Mastery Trophy to acquire as you’ll constantly be working on it throughout the game. There are essentially just three objectives; Kill enemies with a Gatling Gun, Break enemy shields with a Laser, and Kill Armoured Enemies with a Missile Launcher.

The best way to earn this trophy naturally is to just play through the game using the weapons as they were intended; Use Missiles on Armored (yellow-health) enemies, use your Laser on enemy Shields (blue health bar), and then use the Gatling Gun on everything else and the trophy will come naturally once all three Masteries reach Level 5.

If you need to farm this trophy, there are many points in the final mission where enemies spawn infinitely. You can exploit this to unlock the trophy but finishing the mission will reset your progress. It’s worth noting, however, that the trophy system will remember any masteries that you reached Level 5 with, even if the game resets them. So you could just reach Level 5 with each one one-by-one in the final mission, unlocking the trophy once each Mastery has been Level 5 at least once.

Mastery of Rites

Achieve full mastery of Rites

Cumulative

The Rite Mastery trophy is a little tougher to earn naturally than the Weapon counterpart, but you will find them all very easy to farm once you focus on them.

There are 9 Rite Masteries and only 5 Rites in the game, so some have more than just one Mastery tied to them. Obviously, you will need to progress the story to unlock all of these Rites before you can work on their masteries, but once you have the Rite of Control you’ll have everything you need.

It can be hard finding the perfect combat scenario for many of these, so either farm the final mission for Mastery completions one-by-one or exploit the “Reload from Last Checkpoint” option in the menu to replay combat scenarios during Missions and Side Missions.

I strongly recommend focusing on just one mastery at a time as you’ll find them much easier to complete in this way.

The only one that isn’t tied to combat is the Rite of Senses Mastery which requires you to use your ability to scan for and then collect crates containing Credits. There are literally hundreds of these scattered throughout the system, you just need to actively look for them.

Mastery of Combat

Achieve full mastery of combat

Cumulative

The Combat Mastery trophy is between Weapons and Rites in terms of difficulty, but you will find them all very easy to farm once you focus on any individual one.

There are 6 Combat Masteries to look out for while you play.

Other Misc Trophies

Space Traveler

Visited 50 locations

Cumulative

To unlock the “Space Traveler” trophy, you simply need to visit a cumulative total of 50 unique locations in the game. You’ll visit quite a lot by simply playing the story. Add to that the 35 Side Missions you need to complete for Paragon and you will probably earn the trophy naturally.

If not, however, you can see all unvisited locations on your map as “?” icons. They change to star icons once you’ve visited them.

Voices from the Past

Find 25 memories

Cumulative

Memories manifest in-game as glowing blue singularities which are quite easy to spot. They also play a huge role throughout the story so you’ll definitely learn what they are naturally.

To unlock the “Voices from the Past” trophy, you need to interact with a mere 25 memories. Given all the memories in the main campaign, plus those throughout the Side Missions, you’ll undoubtedly earn this trophy naturally.

If not, however, there are quite a few memories just dotted around each map as hidden collectibles. Use your ability to scan for them nearby.

At Least You Tried

Die in permadeath mode

This will likely be your very last trophy as you’re going to want to create a new save for this.

From the Title Screen, select “New Game” and then when the difficulty options are shown, make sure you activate the “Permadeath” option. Permadeath obviously means that you won’t be able to respawn from the last checkpoint if you die, your game will just end.

To unlock the “At Least You Tried” trophy, though, all you need to do is die in Permadeath mode, nothing more extraneous than that. Once you have control of your ship in Permadeath Mode, just crash into any obstacle to “unalive” yourself and the trophy will unlock!!
