We have broken the journey up into easily digestible phases with expert information packed into each one. With this, anyone should be able to conquer this game and its challenges.
A Plague Tale: Innocence Trophy Guide: Before You Begin
PS5 & PS4 Autopop
If you have both versions of A Plague Tale: Innocence—the PS5 upgrade is free on PS+ at the time of writing this—you will be able to obtain the platinum in one version and then upload your save to the other to pop all trophies automatically. The auto pop works from PS4 to PS5 and vice versa (we haven’t tested a PS5 to PS4 save transfer, though the word on the internet is that it works both ways).
There are reports that Not a toy anymore, Handfull of pockets, and Alchemist will not pop. You can use the Upgrade Glitch below to force these three trophies to pop.
Upgrade Glitch
From Chapter 3 onwards, you can collect crafting materials and use them to upgrade Amecia’s Sling and Equipment. Though, upgrading both in one playthrough is likely an impossible task. You can replay Chapter 9 repeatedly to farm materials after the story ends, or you can reload Chapter 10 from the Chapter Select menu and attempt this glitch to upgrade them both with relative ease fully.
- Load Chapter 10 from the Chapter Select Menu.
- Immediately hold
—keep it held until told otherwise—while the Chapter loads.
- The Crafting Menu should be open and if you wiggle the
, Amecia should be able to walk about (after she finishes speaking). This is an indicator that the glitch is working.
- Press, and hold
to navigate to the Upgrade Menu and then let go of
. The ammo radial menu should appear.
- Use the
to select an ammo type that is craftable.
- Press and hold
to begin crafting the ammo type. Quickly use the
before the ammo crafting is complete to switch to an upgrade you don’t have. The upgrade should unlock.
You can use this method to upgrade everything.
Phase One – Complete Story, Find All Alchemist Carts & Collectibles
The first phase of our A Plague Tale: Innocence Trophy Guide is to finish the story, gathering all 26 Curiosities, 13 Flowers, 11 Gifts, and entering all 5 Alchemist Carts. Check our A Plague Tale: Innocence Collectible Guide for a full breakdown of their locations in chronological order.
From Chapter 3, you will have access to crafting. If you decide you don’t want to use the exploit detailed in the Before You Begin section, then it’s recommended you upgrade your pockets first as it will allow you to gather more materials. Prioritize upgrading your pockets as often as you can.
It’s also advised that you upgrade one thing more than the other. For example, it’s best to upgrade your Equipment and leave your Sling mostly alone—unless you need a specific upgrade—as this will make it easier to get both upgrade trophies later. See Phase Two for more information.
You will also need to upgrade 100 ammunition which can get in the way of fully upgrading your Equipment and Sling. To prevent this, make sure you only craft cheap ammunition, i.e., ammo that doesn’t require any rare materials to craft.
There are also 9 Chapter-Specific Trophies that you can unlock during this phase, though you can use Chapter Select later to mop them up instead quickly.

Phase Two – Use Chapter Select to Clean Up
During this phase of our A Plague Tale: Innocence Trophy Guide, you will be using Chapter Select to mop up any Chapter-Specific trophies you might have missed during your first playthrough.
If you decided to ignore the upgrade exploit, you should also replay Chapter 9 onwards to finish upgrading your Sling or your Equipment, whichever one you didn’t upgrade during your first playthrough. There isn’t enough materials or inventory space to upgrade both your Sling and Equipment in one playthrough (it might be possible if you’re smart about your upgrades). Therefore, it’s best to put all your upgrade materials into your Equipment first, as you should unlock Handfull of pockets by the end of your first playthrough. Then you can use Chapter Select to replay from Chapter 9 onwards, recollect upgrade materials, and fully upgrade your Sling instead of unlocking Not a toy anymore.
Chapter-Specific Trophies

More practice
Complete the aiming training
During Chapter 1, after Amicia and her father return to the de Rune estate, you will see a stable to Amica’s immediate right. Approach the stable, and the stablehand will mention some targets set up behind the stable. Go around the stable and use your sling to break the 6 pots that are set up.

Feeding the hungry
Find a lunch for Hugo
During Chapter 2, you will enter a town and come to a courtyard with white Xs on all the doors. Hugo will run off, and Amicia will scold him. Head right from this courtyard until you see some wooden barrels at the opening of a path that leads to a tree with Red Apples growing on it. Pick one from the branches and give it to Hugo.

Found!
Play hide-and-seek
In Chapter 4, you will reach an orchard after making your way through a brief stealth section. Hugo will quickly run off by himself and hide amongst the bushes. Press to crouch, and start searching the orchard for Hugo (he always hides on the 6th row of the orchard on the left side). When you find him, approach him from behind and press
when prompted.

Savior
Save a soldier
Halfway through Chapter 5, Amicia, Hugo, and Lucas enter a fallen siege tower filled with rats. At the other end is a trapped soldier. You have to use the torch to push the rats away as you walk through; however, the rats will eat the soldier if you walk too far. About halfway through the siege tower, there is a holder on the left wall for your torch. Place it there, and use Ignifer to light the extinguished brazier next to the soldier so you can proceed without harming him.

Tribute
Find the tomb
At the start of Chapter 8, Hugo will lead Amicia down spiral stairs towards Lucas’s lab. However, instead of entering the lab, keep following the stairs down, and you will discover a tomb. The trophy will unlock after Amicia and Hugo offer some kind words.

The hard way
Enter through the main door
At the end of Chapter 10, you can be sneaky and enter the Library via a side door, or you can be bold and enter through the main door. The main door will be guarded by two soldiers in armor and with shields. You can use Devorantis to make them remove their helmets for an easy kill. You can also try to distract them from the door and sneak in.

Merciful
Save the dying
When revisiting the de Rune estate in Chapter 12, you will come across wounded soldiers as you try to enter the main gate. You must enter the gate without killing the two soldiers. One is propped up against a stone wall, and the other is leaning against an Inquisition coach. Use Odoris to distract the swarms long enough for you to run past them and to the main gate. If you accidentally kill one of the soldiers, restart the checkpoint and try again.

Captain Sidekick
Stay with the captain
During Chapter 14 when you play as Hugo, you will have to follow Captain Nicholas to find Beatrice’s cell. When you enter the courtyard, where the Nightshade flower is, you will have to navigate it to get ahead of Nicholas and through the door at the other end before he can close it on you.
This section can be tricky if you’re also trying to collect the flower, however, you can run around and even sprint (hold ) in some areas of the courtyard without being spotted. The door you need to get to is directly opposite where you enter the courtyard, but there are several people in the courtyard that you must avoid so a direct line is impossible. The ideal path is to go left and then sprint down the courtyard, turn right into the bushes and enter the middle of the courtyard. Then head through the arch on your left (it’s the arch directly opposite the courtyard from where you entered) when you exit the bushes and head for the door.

The Blacksmith
Find Rodric’s forge
During Chapter 16, you will come to an Inquisition coach and archers will have you pinned down. Nearby is an iron gate that is locked. Head to the coach and take a right to find an overgrown passage. At the end of this passage, you will find a gap where you can use Amicia’s sling to break the lock on the iron gate.
After the gate is unlocked, head through it and go to the end where Rodric will discover his old forge.

Crafting Trophies

Handfull of pockets
Fully upgrade the equipment
If you didn’t follow the exploit, load up Chapter 9 and run around collecting all the materials again, but this time only upgrade the final equipment slots rather than the sling.

Not a toy anymore
Fully upgrade the sling
If you didn’t follow the exploit, load up Chapter 9 and run around collecting all the materials again, but this time only upgrade the final sling slots rather than the equipment.

Alchemist
Craft 100 ammunitions
This should unlock naturally. The game offers quite a few opportunities where you have to craft Ingifer, Odoris, or Luminosa etc to progress. However, if you still don’t have this trophy by the end of your journey, load up Chapter 9 go around collecting materials, and use them only to craft ammunition.
