How to Unlock All Trophies in Telling Lies for PlayStation 4
Welcome to our Telling Lies Trophy Guide.
Telling Lies is an investigative drama game featuring a simulated interactive desktop environment. Your goal is to search through various clips as you try to figure out the under arching plot and how the characters in the clips relate to each other.
Phase One – Story & Missable Trophy
While I do recommend you play this game at least once without our guide to actually get some enjoyment out of it, once you’re done with that (or if you just want to get on with it) this phase of our Telling Lies Trophy Guide will focus on you getting all of the Story-related and Missable Trophies.
There are some misc trophies that you can earn at any time, even after beating the game, so those are reserved for clean-up in Phase Two of this guide, but the truly Missable one requires a whole extra playthrough so I strongly recommend you stick to our guide and can avoid missing it.
I’ve placed the Missable Trophy first below so that you’re fully aware of it.
Cats can’t type
About half way through the story a cat will jump up on the keyboard of the computer you are using and fill the search bar with random characters. Do not delete this string of characters otherwise you will have to delete your progress via the options menu and start a new playthrough. Instead press the “search” button and Animal Logic will unlock.

Headed out onto the roof
At 5:30AM you will gain access to the “Jane the Ripper” app that will upload all data on the connected External Drive before wiping everything. This will start a cutscene where the character using the computer will leave the apartment and head onto the roof closing out the game. You don’t have to use the Jane the Ripper app just yet if you want to go for Full Upload. Either way you will unlock Sunrise once you’ve used the app and witnessed the cutscene.
Uploaded the entire data set
To unlock Full Upload you will need to view all 169 video files on the External Drive. To do this you need to search each of the keywords below and watch at least 1 second of each search result.
- Bad Guy
- Black Kite
- Green Storm
- Jane Dean
- Knight Eighty One
- Little Mermaid
- Love (this is the first term that is automatically searched)
- Organizing Group
- Real Name
- She’s My
- Snow White
- Water is Life
Phase Two – Cleanup
In phase two of our Telling Lies Trophy Guide you should jump back in by selecting continue from the main menu. This will put you back in the game just before the Jane the Ripper app is executed. This give you the perfect opportunity to mop-up the misc trophies below.
The hardest of these trophies is by far Missing King and might take upwards of an hour to unlock.
It’s the taking part that counts
You can unlock Pointless Game by opening the Solitaire app and pressing the refresh button in the bottom right of the window several times. However, you will need to actually complete a game of Solitaire for Missing King so it’s best to couple Pointless Game with that.
The game is rigged
Open the solitaire app on the left of the screen and begin playing. The goal of Solitaire is to create 4 piles of suits on the top right of the screen. You do this by putting an Ace of each suit in each of the slots and then build them up so that a King sits on top. Solitaire isn’t always a winnable game and you will have to reset your game by pressing the reset button in the bottom right. This will unlock Pointless Game while you are attempting Missing King.
The twist to this trophy is that a King is missing from the deck making it slightly harder. However, it’s not impossible so if you feel like your current go is a wash don’t hesitate to reset and try again. Usually, you can tell if it’s unwinnable if you don’t have access to enough Aces or low cards from the beginning. Missing King will unlock once you beat Solitaire.
Organizer You like tagging things
You can organize the clips you bookmark by navigating to the bookmark tab in the Database Server app. In the bookmark tab you can select a bookmarked clip by checking the box on the right in the list and then pressing the bookmark icon on the right of the window. Type out the name of a bookmark and press apply. After bookmarking 6 clips you will unlock Organizer.
You like bookmarking
To unlock Librarian you will need to bookmark about 20 clips. You can bookmark clips when viewing them by pressing . Once you have 20 clips bookmarked Librarian will unlock.
Taking out the trash
Tidying up the desktop
As Telling Lies is a desktop simulator type game, you can interact with various items exactly as you would on your own device. To unlock Taking out the trash, drag an item such as the “Welcome To Castle” text file on the desktop to the Trash icon—also on the desktop.
Clicking down the rabbit hole
While viewing a clip you can highlight single words in the subtitles and press on them to do a quick search for that term. If you do this several times you will unlock Hypertextual.
Forgot My Password
It’s not “password”
At the top right of the desktop, you can see a WiFi icon that is interactable. When you click on it a list of networks will appear. Unlock Forgot My Password by selecting a network and type in “password” which will obviously fail to connect. Repeat this process several times and the trophy will unlock.
Unlock all trophies.
Once you have acquired every other trophy in this Telling Lies Trophy Guide, the “All Done” Platinum trophy will unlock. Well done, Agent.
