Trophy Guide

Star Wars Republic Commando Trophy Guide and Road Map for PlayStation 4

Welcome to our Star Wars Republic Commando Trophy Guide! Republic Commando is an old PS2-era Star Wars game I was pretty fond of in my youth. It’s got similar early-FPS gameplay to the original Halo game, while set in the world of the Star Wars Prequel movies. Even by today’s standards, the game is pretty good and provides a decent challenge!

The trophy journey isn’t very grueling at all. There’s the slight issue of you needing to complete the game on Hard Difficulty, but fortunately, that really isn’t as big of a challenge as it sounds! You’re looking at around 10-12 hours to get through the story and then a light drizzle of cleanup to top things off!

Phase One | Campaign on Hard Difficulty

In this first phase of our Star Wars Republic Commando trophy guide, I strongly recommend setting the difficulty to “Hard” immediately.

The reason is that the trophy list for this game requires you to beat the game on Easy, Medium, and Hard difficulty. However, you can just complete the game once on Hard Difficulty and earn all three trophies!

Hard Difficulty is actually not all that difficult compared to more modern games. Here are some recommendations I have, however:

  • Remap the controls! Developers hadn’t quite figured out FPS control schemes back in the day so you’ll probably want to shuffle some things around to match your FPS of choice.
  • Give orders as much as you can! A Clone Trooper is much more useful behind cover, where they;’re basically invincible and hit much more accurately. So, if there’s some cover, a turret, a trap, anything you can direct your teammates towards, do it!
  • Don’t be afraid to let your team do all the work. They take much less damage than you so feel free to cower behind cover and command them from a distance for most of the game!
  • This remastered version of the game features a quick save mechanic that you can abuse the life out of. You can press at any time to register a quick save, which can then be loaded up quickly by holding and pressing . This mechanic makes the game much easier. Just smash that button after every encounter.

That’s basically all you need to look out for in your first playthrough. There are a few secrets and misc combat trophies to look out for as you play, but the majority will come to you naturally and the rest can be unlocked later.

That said, here’s a few things you should try to do as you play to speed things up:

  • Get melee kills – This is actually a pain to pull off on Hard Difficulty and it’s easier to just farm the 100 melee kills you need on Easy Difficulty at a later date. That said, any melee kills you do get in along the way will still speed things up.
  • Pick up enemy weapons – Not just because enemy weapons (mapped to ) are powerful and useful, but also because you’ll need to find all 5 for another trophy.

Never saw it coming

Snipe down the ship on Geonosis

Story-Related

Unmissable

During the first Story Mission, you will eventually be tasked with bringing down a Geonosian Ship by assigning Delta 07 to a Sniper Position above a forcefield. Completing this main story objective will unavoidably unlock the “Never saw it coming” trophy.

Was it red-red-green or red-green-red

Blow 10 demolition charges

Unmissable

Cumulative

It is pretty much impossible to get through the story without blowing 10 Demolition Charges because you’ll need to plant and detonate far more than that to get through the whole campaign!

Maximized potential

Unlock all weapon attachments

Unmissable

You will be introduced to the various weapon attachments for your weapon throughout the main campaign, making the Maximized Potential trophy unmissable!

Shoot the big red spot

Defeat the dwarf spider droid

Story-Related

Unmissable

Shortly after receiving the Anti-Armor attachment in Republic Commando’s story campaign, you will be given a reason to use it; a Dwarf Spider Droid.

You need to defeat this unit to proceed through the story, making the “Shoot the big red spot” trophy unmissable!

"This planet is rotten from the inside out"

Unmissable

The “This planet is rotten from the inside out” trophy will unlock unavoidably when you reach the end of the Geonosis Campaign, regardless of difficulty.

Difficulty Trophies

Cadet

Beat the game on Easy

Story-Related

Difficulty-Specific

Unmissable

The Cadet trophy will unlock if you successfully reach and complete the Kashyyyk Campaign on Easy, Medium, or Hard Difficulty.

Lieutenant

Beat the game on Medium

Story-Related

Difficulty-Specific

The Lieutenant trophy will unlock if you successfully reach and complete the Kashyyyk Campaign on Medium or Hard Difficulty. The game is on Medium difficulty by default, so if you never changed the difficulty, you should unlock this one naturally.

Marshal Commander

Beat the game on Hard

Story-Related

Difficulty-Specific

The Marshal Commander trophy will unlock if you successfully reach and complete the Kashyyyk Campaign on Hard Difficulty. The game is on Medium difficulty by default, so you will need to make sure you open the Options menu and change the difficulty to “Hard” before you start your first/hard difficulty playthrough.

Phase Two | Cleanup

With the story complete and the Hard Difficulty trophy in the bag, the very first thing to do in this second phase of our Star Wars Republic Commando Trophy Guide is to change the difficulty to “Easy” in the options. You just need to mop up a few miscellaneous trophies using Chapter Select and it will be much quicker on Easy Difficulty.

Chapter Select in Republic Commando is called “Campaign Map” and it is divided up into the three main locations of the game; Geonosis, RAS Prosecutor, and Kashyyyk.

Misc Combat Trophies

Lack of bacta

Revive a squad member

Playing through the game on Hard Difficulty, at least one of your companions is bound to get downed eventually. When this happens, simply approach them and hold the on-screen button to revive them. Once you’ve done this for the first time, the “Lack of bacta” trophy will unlock.

You can even down your allies yourself. Just shoot at them until they go down and you can revive them immediately.

Close and personal

100 melee kills

Cumulative

The “Close and personal” trophy requires you to get a cumulative total of 100 Melee Kills throughout your entire time playing the game.

This is going to be really tricky to earn as you work through the game on Hard Difficult, simply because you don’t want to get that close to most enemies on Hard Difficulty. However, once you’re done with the first phase of this Republic Commando Trophy Guide and have switched the difficulty to “Easy,” you will earn this trophy in no time!

Simply use Chapter Select to re-enter any mission and then go wild spamming everything with melee attacks until the trophy pops!

Squeaky-clean

Visor cleaned 10 times

Cumulative

The “Squeaky-clean” trophy will most definitely unlock naturally throughout the course of the game.

Each time that your visor gets dirtied or damaged in combat, it will be automatically cleaned up after a short moment. Having this occur a cumulative total of 10 times will cause the trophy to unlock!

"He's holding a thermal detonator"

Hit 5 enemies with a single thermal detonator

Non-Cumulative

The “He’s holding a thermal detonator” trophy can be tricky to pull off, so if you don’t earn it naturally throughout the game, you will most likely need to attempt this via chapter select.

A really good place to earn this is in the Geonosis level as groups of five or more Droids frequently gather together and they’re easy to take out with a single grenade.

Just keep your eyes peeled for a big enough group and be ready to launch a thermal detonator as soon as you see one. Taking five out all at once will unlock the trophy.

"I really hate those Scavs"

Fend off a scavenger droid

During the RAS Prosecutor and Kashyyyk missions, you will face several flying enemies called “Scavenger Droids.” These droids will, when they get close enough, latch onto your helmet and drill into the visor. To get them off, you need to spam the attack button.

Removing one for the first time will unlock the “I really hate those Scavs” trophy. Or, in my case, it may even unlock if you die from the Scavenger attack.

"Hold onto your guts while I rip out theirs"

Request a revive

The “Hold onto your guts while I rip out theirs” trophy will unlock the first time you select the “Recall and Revive” option after getting downed in combat, thus giving your allies orders to revive you and get you back into the fight.

This is likely to happen at least once during your Hard Difficulty playthrough.

Take offensive formation

Get a kill while piloting a Walker

Chapter-Specific

The “Take offensive formation” trophy will in all likelihood unlock automatically throughout the story. During the RAS Prosecutor campaign (“Saving the Ship” specifically), there will come a point where you need to slice into a console at the back of a hangar to bring down an elevator with a Walker on it. You will eventually need to pilot the Walker and use it to clear out the droid presence in the hangar.

That said, I actually cleared out all of the droids before attempting to slice the console, thus leaving none left to shoot with the Walker! If the same happens to you and you miss your chance at this trophy, reload the mission and try again until you successfully kill at least one enemy from inside the Walker.

Delta squad forming up

Issue all squad commands at least once

There are various commands you can issue to your entire squad at once by holding the action button and then using to select a command. To unlock the “Delta squad forming up” trophy, you simply need to use all four of these commands at least once.

Turret-ial Assault

Eliminate 10 enemies with a gunship turret

Throughout the Geonosis campaign, you will often find Clone Dropships that have crashed into the environment. These ships have Gun Turrets that you can still use, either by instructing someone to pilot them or by mounting them yourself.

To unlock the “Turret-ial Assault” trophy, simply mount one of these cannons and begin killing enemies. After killing a cumulative total of only 10 enemies with a Gunship Turret, the trophy will unlock.

We got a nest here

Destroy all eggs before they hatch

Chapter-Specific

During the Geonosis Campaign mission “Infiltrate the Droid Foundry,” you will eventually reach an underground cave with loads of eggs inside. They hang from the ceiling but also sit in pods on the ground. These eggs will hatch if you or your teammates get too close and disturb them.

To unlock the “We got a nest here” trophy, you need to find and shoot every egg yourself before any of them can hatch.

Start by making your way to this area just before the cave, then give your allies the “Secure the Area” command, forcing them to stay in one spot and not come into the room disturbing eggs.

Next, press to create a quicksave, if any of the eggs hatch you can hold and press to quickly load your save and try again. It’s okay if a Geonosian spawns from an egg you’ve destroyed, as long as you’re the one who destroyed it.

While being careful not to inadvertently cause any egg hatches, shoot each and every egg (and Geonosian) until the next two rooms are clear of eggs and the trophy unlocks.

"Sir, please make up your mind"

Issue and cancel a command too quickly

The very simple “Sir, please make up your mind” trophy requires you to simply issue a command and then immediately cancel. You can issue commands to your teammates by looking at things like sniping spots, bacta tanks, and turrets and then pressing the action button.

Simply mash the button twice in quick succession while looking at one of these objects to unlock the trophy immediately.

Friendliest fire

Blow yourself up

Quite an easy trophy, if a little embarrassing to earn naturally!

Basically, just throw thermal detonators at your feet until you explode, unlocking the Friendliest Fire trophy immediately.

Consistently explosive

Blow 10 explosive barrels

Cumulative

Explosive Barrels are found in every level, though their design varies. Essentially, any brightly-colored container that explodes when you shoot it will count towards this trophy.

The utility of explosive barrels in combat cannot be understated, especially on Hard Difficulty, so it is very likely you will earn this trophy naturally. To unlock it, simply shoot a cumulative total of 10 explosive barrels throughout your time in Republic Commando, causing them to explode.

Guerilla Warfare

Drop a droid dispenser on 4 enemies

Chapter-Specific

Non-Cumulative

To unlock the “Guerilla Warfare” trophy, you need to drop a Droid Dispenser down on top of 4 or more enemies at once. This can only be achieved in one specific mission; “Infiltration of the Core Ship” in the Geonosis Campaign.

Eventually, you will meet up with Sev and come up against some Droideka. Take out the Droideka and then make a quicksave with just incase you make a mistake and want to quickly return to this point (+).

From this point in the mission onwards, check the ceiling above you. There, you’ll see that there are various Droid Dispensers, some of which are damaged and sparking. Shooting the top of the damaged ones will cause them to drop down to the ground, crushing any droid presence that exists beneath them.

You’ll need to put in a little bit of work to ensure you hit at least 4 droids with one, but it’s not too difficult to pull off and you always have that quicksave to keep returning to! Keep at it until you succeed and the trophy is yours.

Watch your head

Knock a droids head off with your melee attack

In Star Wars Republic Commando, you can melee enemies that are close enough by pressing . To unlock the “Watch your head” trophy, simply aim your reticule at the head of a standard Battle Droid before pressing to melee it.

A well-placed melee attack to the head of a Battle Droid will knock it clean off, unlocking the “Watch your head” trophy.

"Can you die later, sir? It just isn't a good time now."

Go down 10 times in one mission

Non-Cumulative

The quite ridiculous “Can you die later, sir? It just isn’t a good time now” trophy will unlock if you manage to find yourself getting downed 10 times within a single mission.

While playing through the game on Hard Difficulty, there is a slight possibility you could earn this trophy naturally. However, if you find yourself needing to unlock this trophy, just load up any level, press yourself against the wall, and use every explosive option you have in your arsenal to repeatedly deplete your own shields and HP.

Each time you go down, select the “Recall and Revive” option to have your allies revive you, and then take yourself down again. Rinse and repeat until you unlock the trophy.

Misc Exploration Trophies

"Times have changed"

Find the hidden lightsaber (in Rescue the Squad)

Chapter-Specific

The “Times have changed”  trophy requires you to find a Lightsaber which is hidden in one of the missions on the RAS Prosecutor level called “Rescue the Squad.” It’s actually not that well-hidden and I stumbled across it naturally in my first playthrough. If you missed it during yours, just load the mission back up and look for it.

It’s hidden in a vent about halfway through the level. Proceed until you reach this blockage that you need to destroy with a charge:

Once there, look to the right of it and you’ll see a vent next to a dead clone trooper which you can crouch into.

Inside the vent, turn right and go all the way to the back of the vent, where you’ll see the lightsaber.

No, unfortunately you don’t get to use it…

Aspirational goals

Collect all enemy weapons

Collectible

There are a total of 5 different Enemy Weapons you can collect throughout the game, which then get slotted into the option in your loadout.

There are more than 5 optional weapons for this slot, but you genuinely just need the weapons used by your enemies, limiting the list to just five weapons you will need to find and equip:

  • Elite Beam Rifle | Geonosis Campaign | Dropped by Geonosian Elites
  • Shotgun | RAS Prosecutor Campaign or Kashyyyk Campaign | Dropped by Trandoshans all the time
  • Trandoshan Heavy Machine Gun | RAS Prosecutor Campaign or Kashyyyk Campaign | Dropped by very large armored Trandoshans
  • Trandoshan Mercenary SMG | RAS Prosecutor Campaign or Kashyyyk Campaign | Dropped by Trandoshan Mercenaries all the time.
  • Concussion Rifle | Kashyyyk Campaign | Dropped by Trandoshan Riflemen high up on the catwalks during the first few missions in this campaign.

Once you have equipped each one at least once (you may need to switch to each one at least once, but firing them is not required) the “Aspirational goals ” trophy will unlock.

That model is a death trap

Find the speeder bike

Chapter-Specific

During the Mission titled “Saving the Ship,” when you arrive in “Hangar C,” look at the back of this hangar and you’ll see the speeder hidden away in the corner.

The trophy will unlock from you simply approaching it, you don’t even need to be looking at it.
