Welcome to our Speed or Death Trophy Guide. Speed or Death is a very short arcade time trial racing game in which you race through theoretically excitingapocalypse scenarios, similar to Motorstorm Apocalypse and Disney’s Split Second. However, in reality, the game is a poorly-constructed asset-flipping indie game with rather bad controls.
That’s not to say you can’t enjoy the short few hours it takes to collect every trophy in this title.
Phase One | Complete Every Race
Speed or Death has only four unique levels for you to play. Each level contains various chapter-specific trophies, which we will tackle in Phase Two of this Speed or Death Trophy Guide, but you can look ahead to see what’s in store and try to complete some as you play.
Ultimately, though, the goal of this Phase is to simply complete a race on all four maps. Just enjoy yourself and get to grips with the controls.
Unmissable Race Trophies
Unlock Pachi Taxi
Complete the circuit Money City Rampage
The first and easiest track is “Money City Rampage.” Completing it for the first time will unlock the “Unlock Pachi Taxi” Trophy.
Unlock Lucky
Complete the circuit The Hideous Desert Worms
The second track is “The Hideous Desert Worms.” Completing it for the first time will unlock the “Unlock Lucky” Trophy.
Unlock Blue Sky
Complete the circuit Octopoids from the Unknown
The third track is “Octopoids from the Unknown.” Completing it for the first time will unlock the “Unlock Blue Sky” Trophy.
Unlock Vulcano
Complete the circuit Revenge of the Vulcano Dragon
The fourth and final track is “Revenge of the Vulcano Dragon.” Completing it for the first time will unlock the “Unlock Vulcano” Trophy.
Phase Two | Map Cleanup
With the first phase of our Speed or Die Trophy Guide Complete, you should just have a handful of trophies left to mop up. Each trophy is specific to a track, so I’ve divided them up by track below. This way, you can take the cleanup process a track at a time.
Each track has three types of additional trophy:
- One for completing a miscellaneous objective
- One for completing the track with a vehicle from another track
- One for finding a Secret Checkpoint hidden in the stage
Money City Rampgae Trophies
Unlock Hatchback 988
Destroy 30 eggs in Money City Circuit
To unlock the “Unlock Hatchback 988” Trophy, you need to progress in the Money City Circuit track until you reach this plaza:
There you will find many eggs, which can be destroyed by driving into them with your vehicle.
You will likely run out of time while doing this, but it’s okay because the trophy is cumulative, you don’t need to hit 30 eggs in one attempt, you can replay the track as many times as you like until you reach a cumulative total of 30 eggs smashed.
Unlock Coupe
Get the secret checkpoint in Money City Circuit
To find the secret checkpoint in Money City Circuit, first proceed through the track until you reach the plaza where the eggs are.
From there, look for the left-most exit from the plaza, which has a purple-ish Secret Checkpoint over it. Pass through this checkpoint to unlock the “Unlock Coupe” trophy.
Unlock Hyper Car
Complete Money City Circuit with a car from another circuit
After you have completed Money City Circuit for the first time and then load it up again, you will be able to press 
+ 
in the car selection menu to browse vehicles from the other tracks.
Use any vehicle from any other track to complete Money City Circuit and the “Unlock Hyper Car” trophy will unlock!
The Hideous Desert Worms Trophies
Unlock Don Potato
Kill 40 little worms
About halfway through the “The Hideous Desert Worms” track, you will start to see very small worms on the road, which can be killed by driving into them.
To unlock the “Unlock Don Potato” trophy, you will need to kill a cumulative total of 40 of these worms, but it doesn’t need to be in a single run. Replay the track as many times as you need.
Unlock Torino
Get the secret checkpoint in the Desert Circuit
Shortly after running into the first group of little worms (see Unlock Don Potato), you will enter a larger area with a lake on the far-right side.
Running over said lake, there is a wooden bridge:
Cross the wooden bridge and you’ll find the level’s Secret Checkpoint at the end. Drive through it to secure the “Unlock Torino” trophy.
Unlock Hot Roll
Complete the Desert Circuit with a car from another circuit
After you have completed The Hideous Desert Worms for the first time and then load it up again, you will be able to press + in the car selection menu to browse vehicles from the other tracks.
Use any vehicle from any other track to complete The Hideous Desert Worms and the “Unlock Hot Roll” trophy will unlock!
Octopoids from the Unknown Trophies
Unlock Shark Road
Finish the first lap in less than 2 minutes
To unlock the “Unlock Shark Road” trophy, you must complete one full lap on the “Octopoids from the Unknown” track in under 2 minutes.
This is actually quite easy to do once you’re used to the track and understand where to go, so don’t feel shy about doing some practice runs.
The end of the first lap is at a point in the track which is destroyed by aliens, forcing you to drive off-road via a debris-ramp. Cross this checkpoint in under 2 minutes and the trophy is yours!
Unlock Bubi 666
Get the secret checkpoint in the F1 Circuit
The Secret Checkpoint in the Octopoids from the Unknown track is very easy to spot, so you will probably earn this trophy naturally.
As you’re driving around the track at around 75% of the way through the level, you will drive under a ruined bridge. Just after it, there’s some debris you can drive up, using it as a ramp.
Clearly visible at the top of this ramp is the stage’s Secret Checkpoint. Drive through it and the “Unlock Bubi 666” trophy is all yours!
Unlock Hell Fire
Complete the F1 Circuit F1 with a car from another circuit
After you have completed Octopoids from the Unknown for the first time and then load it up again, you will be able to press + in the car selection menu to browse vehicles from the other tracks.
Use any vehicle from any other track to complete Octopoids from the Unknown and the “Unlock Hell Fire” trophy will unlock!
Revenge of the Vulcano Dragon Trophies
Unlock Off Road
Kill 10 cows
In the first half of the “Revenge of the Vulcano Dragon” track, there are a few cows here and there.
To unlock the “Unlock Off Road” trophy, you must hit 10 of these cows with your car, killing them. There are two problems with this;
- Hitting a cow completely cancels out your momentum, making it difficult to stay under the time limit after hitting one.
- There are not enough cows in the level.
Fortunately, you can simply replay the level as many times as you need, because the trophy is cumulative!
Unlock Punkest
Get the secret checkpoint in Vulcano Circuit
As you’re driving through the track, you will come across a very difficult-to-miss group of farm animals; a few cows and a pig.
Just before you reach these animals, to your left, you will see a dirt path that leads off to an easy-to-spot Secret Checkpoint. Simply drive down this side road to collect the checkpoint and secure your “Unlock Punkest” trophy.
Unlock The Dolorean
Complete the Vulcano Circuit with a car from another circuit
After you have completed Revenge of the Vulcano Dragon for the first time and then load it up again, you will be able to press + in the car selection menu to browse vehicles from the other tracks.
Use any vehicle from any other track to complete Revenge of the Vulcano Dragon and the “Unlock The Dolorean” trophy will unlock!
