Trophy Guide

Nobody Wants to Die Trophy Guide and Road Map for PlayStation

Welcome to our Nobody Wants to Die Trophy Guide. Nobody Wants to Die is a single-player crime scene detective game with a fascinating story set in a unique 20s-style Cyberpunk world, which has been likened to the style of games like Bioshock. Popping up seemingly out of nowhere, the game has already racked up some critical acclaim despite its short runtime and simple gameplay mechanics. The world and story do a lot of the heavy lifting, as you’re thrust into the mind of a grizzled detective struggling with mental health problems brought on by a faulty “Shell.”

In this world, people rarely die, with unique technology allowing their consciousness to be transferred to new “Shells,” until a nefarious political plot attempts to limit this technology to the wealthy upper classes.

The trophy journey is fairly simple, but with two separate endings each of which has a trophy, you’ll need to either play the game twice, or make use of the PS Plus Cloud Saves to create a backup point. Below, you’ll find a Trophy Walkthrough which not only advises you on the best ways to ensure you earn each ending trophy in the most convenient ways, but instructs you on how to collect every potentially-missable trophy along the way.

Phase One | Get the Good Ending, collect all Missables, and make a backup save if you can.

In this first phase of our Nobody Wants to Die Trophy Guide, we’ll essentially be getting the good ending. You can use the trophies in this section as something of a walkthrough, ensuring you don’t miss any of the many missable trophies or important choices. You’ll also be prompted to make a backup save (see The Last House on the Right ) that will be used in Phase Two of this guide to unlock the Bad Ending trophy after you’ve finished this playthrough.

To make sure you get the Good Ending in this playthrough, you need to make a specific choice when talking to Sara in a specific Chapter (See Darkness Under the Stairs.)

First Playthrough Trophy Walkthrough

Restless Hands

Interact with all objects in the car

Missable

At the very start of the game, you’ll be sat in a car. To unlock the “Restless Hands” trophy, you essentially need to interact with every interactable item in the car after speaking to the woman, before exiting. Those things are:

  • The Newspaper on the Passenger Seat
  • The Bottle of Moonshine in the center console
  • The Photo in the door
  • The Gun next to the Steering Wheel
  • The Ambrosia next to the gun
  • The Figurine on top of the small screen
  • The small device next to the Ambrosia (This will be forced to happen, just keep interacting with stuff after it does)

You can then exit the car and continue on.

Dark City

Come back to life

Story-Related

Unmissable

Continue this section talking to your new partner and receiving a briefing. You’ll eventually automatically take another few pills from the bottle of Ambrosia and the story will progress, leaving you with the “Dark City” trophy automatically.

Cold Case

Leave the documents

Missable

On the desk in the apartment, you’ll find some Top Secret documents. Pick them up and then you’ll be given the option to “Leave” or “Burn” the documents.

Select “Leave” and then wait for the “Cold Case” trophy to unlock.

Once it does, Press and select “Quit” to return to the title screen. You’re going to reload the level and unlock Firestarter by burning them this time. First, you’ll want to get the Scent of Mistery Trophy, though.

Scent of Mistery

Describe the smell of chocolate to Sara

Missable

After unlocking Cold Case, return to the Title Screen and then select “Continue” to return to the apartment.

Rather than going directly for the desk this time, head up the stairs, and you’ll find a shelf filled with jars containing rare items.

Interact with the cabinet and Sara will ask you to describe the smell of Chocolate to her. Press to agree, describe the smell to her via the dialogue prompts and you’ll unlock the Scent of Mistery trophy.

Firestarter

Burn the documents

Missable

After unlocking Cold Case and Scent of Mistery, return to the desk in the apartment.

Pick up the documents again but, this time, choose to burn them.

You will then unlock the Firestarter Trophy after throwing the burning remains of the documents into the trash can.

Old Bastard

Missable

Head back to your apartment, where the objective waypoint is on a phone-like device outside the door.

Interact with the device and you’ll enter the apartment.

Inside, go over to the couch and then interact with the machine hanging from the ceiling.

This will begin playing a voicemail message, unlocking the “Old Bastard” Trophy.

The Game

Win the Decontamination Game

Missable

Take a right in your apartment and head towards the white door.

Interact with it and it will say it is occupied. Wait for the timer to tick down and then interact with the door again.

Interact with the button on the right wall to switch the Shower to a Decontaminator, then step inside.

Your neighbour will start yelling at you through the wall. To unlock the “The Game” trophy, you need to select the following options in this order:

  1. Left Jab
  2. Dodge and a hook from below
  3. Forearm on the neck

Once the conversation concludes, you’ll receive the trophy.

When reconstructing the scene at the Icarus Bar, make sure you TAKE the bottle of Scotch in the Safe. You’ll need it for Old Fashioned.

After that, just make your way through to the end of the chapter, and you’ll receive the “I as in Icarus” Trophy.

Old Fashioned

Drink the Scotch you took from Icarus

Missable

After a cigarette and some self-reflection, you’ll get into your car. From inside your car, look at the bottle of Scotch in the passenger seat.

If it’s not there, you forgot to grab it while working on the I as in Icarus Trophy.

Grab it with and then have a drink of it to unlock “Old Fashioned.”

Catch the message in the air

Missable

At the start of the chapter, you’ll be stood outside while leaflets rain down from above.

Don’t leave yet, just stay there until you see a leaflet with an icon over it, indicating it can be interacted with.

Wait for it to come close and then snatch it out of the air with to unlock the “You’ve Got Mail” trophy.

This isn’t hard to do, but if you somehow miss it, just quit to the title screen and select “Continue” to restart the chapter to try again.

Ray of Light

Save the tree

Missable

Back at your apartment, once you’ve spoken to Rachel and then found and taken some Ambrosia, go into the Kitchen, and you’ll see a broken glass container on the floor. This fell over when the Icarus crashed nearby.

Interact with it to put it back on the counter, and you’ll unlock the “Ray of Light” trophy.

In the Mouth of Madness

Don't fall into madness

Story-Related

Unmissable

Continue on through a dream sequence and another evidence-linking puzzle to reach the end of the Chapter, where you will unlock the “In the Mouth of Madness” trophy.

Deep Red

Go back to where it all started

Unmissable

The next chapter doesn’t contain any Missable trophies, so you can continue on to the end of the Chapter, reconstructing a crime scene and leaving the passage open when you leave. You’ll unlock “Deep Red” at the Chapter’s end.

The Last House on the Right

Find Sara's location

Story-Related

Unmissable

After the events of Deep Red you’ll rush to Sara’s location via a very short Chapter. Upon reaching her apartment, you’ll unlock “The Last House on the Right.”

Immediately after this trophy unlocks and you start the next chapter, you’ll be looking down a dark stairwell. This is where you should create your backup save to be able to get both endings without a fully second playthrough.

To do so, you will need a PS Plus subscription. Close the game and return to the PlayStation Dashboard. Press on the game tile and select “Check Sync Status of Saved Data.” You’ll be prompted to close the game if you didn’t already. Once you have confirmation that the Save Data has been backed up to your cloud, return to the PlayStation Dashboard.

Next, go to your console settings and go to “Saved Data and Game/App Settings” and go to “Upload or Delete from Console Storage.”

Select “Nobody Wants to Die” and then select “Upload.” We already know the data is synced, but this serves another purpose.

A pop-up will open that says “Auto-sync for saved data is turned on for this game or app. If you upload your saved data manually, auto-sync will be turned off. Do you want to continue?” — Select “Yes.”

This will mean that your saved data can no longer be overwritten automatically in the Cloud Storage, meaning you can very easily return to this single save point in the future by downloading your save data once you’ve got the good ending.

I’ll walk you through that later, in Phase Two.

If you do not have PS Plus, you cannot do this and will need to complete a full second playthrough instead. Fortunately, the game is relatively short, though.

"Chicken of Justice"

Solve the puzzle

Missable

Ensuring you have first made a backup save (if you can — See The Last House on the Right) continue through the Chapter until Sara opens her bedroom pod for you:

Head inside and interact with the Chicken of Justice comic on the top bunk of the bunk bed, turn it to see the puzzle solution:

Turn off the lamp and then head out of the bedroom pod and around the back of it, where you’ll see two floodlights. Turn on the one facing the concrete wall to reveal the first Chicken of Justice symbol on the wall:

Turn around and then go through the office pod to the other side and head through the hole broken into the concrete wall:

This leads to a storage area, inside which you’ll find another floodlight on the left, which reveals another Chicken of Justice symbol:

Leave the hole in the wall, turn right, and go up the stairs through the open doorway:

At the top of the stairs, go left and then press on the interaction marker to pull back the curtain:

This will reveal a cape-wearing rooster, lit by a bright light. Wait a moment for the “Chicken of Justice” trophy to unlock.

This is the last Missable Trophy until the End Credits. After this, you only need to worry about ensuring you get the Good Ending (See Darkness Under the Stairs).

Nothing But the Truth

Complete all boards

Story-Related

Unmissable

Continue through the chapter, and you’ll eventually need to set up another evidence board by making connections between clues you’ve found so far. This will be the third and final time you do this throughout the story and, upon completing this board, you will unlock the “Nothing But the Truth” trophy.

Darkness Under the Stairs

Follow the lead

Story-Related

Unmissable

Conclude the Chapter at Sara’s Location, and you’ll receive the “Darkness Under the Stairs” trophy.

At the end of this chapter, you need to make a choice that will determine which ending you get. Since we’re going for the Good Ending in this playthrough, be sure to tell Sara that “Green was behind it all.”

James' Ladder

Look for what is not visible

Story-Related

Unmissable

With no more Missable Trophies to look out for, and your path set to earn the Good Ending, continue on through the next Chapter, reconstructing the events of the Train Crash, and earning “James’ Ladder” at the Chapter’s Conclusion.

What Ever Happened to Jane Salma?

Find Salma before the murderer

Story-Related

Unmissable

Continuing on, complete the climactic Final Chapter to unlock “What Ever Happened to Jane Salma?” at the Chapter’s conclusion. To ensure you still receive the good ending, choose to Throw Your Gun when confronted by Jane at the end of the Chapter.

Fire Walk with Me

Find solace... or not

Story-Related

Unmissable

After you complete the Final Chapter, you’ll get to watch a short cutscene at the end. Regardless of which ending you get, you will unlock the “Fire Walk with Me” trophy upon completion of the story for the first time.

If you made the right choice when speaking to Sara (Darkness Under the Stairs) you should unlock End of Deadly Dreams here, too.

Be sure not to skip the credits (See One Missed Call.)

End of Deadly Dreams

Story-Related

Missable

Be sure not to skip the credits (See One Missed Call.)

One Missed Call

Listen to the audio recording from Sara

Missable

As the credits roll, you’ll see some text in the bottom left which says “Downloading voicemail.” You need to wait for this to download and then listen to the voicemail message when it comes through.

Listen to it all the way through, without skipping or closing the credits, and you will unlock the “One Missed Call” trophy.

If you accidentally miss this one, you will get another chance when you go through for the Bad Ending.

Phase Two | Get the Bad Ending

If you have PS Plus and you were able to create a backup save as instructed above at The Last House on the Right, now is the time to download it from your PS Plus cloud. To do so, open your PS5 Console Settings, go to “Saved Data and Game/App Settings.”

Go to “Download or Delete from Cloud Storage,” and then select your “Nobody Wants to Die” save. Once downloaded, you’ll be able to select “Continue” from the game’s title screen, bringing you back to the point at which we created the backup.

If you could not or missed your chance to do so, you will need to start a totally fresh playthrough. In that event, remember that you can skip most dialogue by holding .

See Anguish for instructions on unlocking it by achieving the Bad Ending. If you happened to miss any of the Missable Trophies from Phase One, you’ll have another chance to earn them in this playthrough — provided you’re doing a full playthrough again.

The only Missable trophies you can earn after the backup save point are Chicken of Justice and One Missed Call.

Trophies in this phase:

Get the Bad Ending

Anguish

Get the Bad Ending

Anguish

Return to darkness

Story-Related

Missable

You’ll need to progress through until the Chapter where you meet Sara, and then after going through the case with her, select “The murderer is behind it all.

This will set you on the path for the Bad Ending. Continue through the rest of the game, and choose to shoot Jane in the final Chapter (See What Ever Happened to Jane Salma?), then you’ll earn the “Anguish” trophy as the Credits begin to roll.

If you missed your opportunity to unlock One Missed Call previously, let the credits play out without skipping them to earn it in this run.
