Trophy Guide

Marvel's Spider-Man 2 Trophy Guide and Road Map for PlayStation 5

Welcome to our Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 Trophy Guide! Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 is the much-anticipated sequel to Insomniac’s award-winning Marvel’s Spider-Man, which is also well-known for having a trophy list so approachable that it is many PlayStation gamers’ first Platinum Trophy.

Just like its predecessor, Spider-Man 2 features a simple and approachable trophy list; complete the game on any difficulty, complete all clearly-marked side activities, then mop up some misc trophies to end things off. It’s really simple, really enjoyable, and involves a ~20-hour excellently written story campaign.

Phase One | Complete the Story Campaign

As I’m sure you could have guessed, our Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 Trophy Guide begins with you first enjoying the story. There’s around 20 hours of action-packed story campaign for you to get really stuck into. Start things off on any difficulty you like and adjust it as you play at your leisure; there’s no difficulty-specific trophy to tie you down here.

As you progress through the story, more and more side-activities will become available, you can complete as many or as few of these as you wish along the way. They’re all marked on the map, they’re all completely unmissable, and they all offer useful resources. The more of them you complete, the less there’ll be to mop up near the end of your trophy journey.

However you choose to proceed, the real trophy-hunting doesn’t start until you’ve whooped the campaign’s ass. Get in there, spider-kick some butt, then come back here when it’s time to mop up!

Phase Two | 100% Map Cleanup

Much like Insomniac’s other two Spider-Man games, you can expect a mountain of side activities to complete, scattered all across New York and the two extra boroughs included in this sequel.

In this second phase of our Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 Trophy Guide, focus on tackling these side activities, one map region at a time. You can track your completion via the in-game map . Each region has a checklist of side-objectives to complete/collectibles to acquire, more and more of which become available as you progress through the campaign.

As the checklist gets completed, the area’s progression increases to a cap of 100%. You’ll need to essentially reach 100% completion on every region. This will involve doing the following things:

Quantity Activity Availability
14 Marko’s Memories Become available after you complete Main Quest 02: “One Thing at a Time”
23 Photo Ops Become available after you complete Main Quest 03: “Show Me New York”
6 FNSM Requests Gradually become available between Main Quest 03 and Main Quest 18

All of these things, except the 43 Spider-Bots, will be clearly marked on your map as they become available, especially if you have defogged the map in every region. Misc Combat Trophies

Slack Line

Stealth takedown 25 enemies in stealth from the Web Line

Cumulative

Web Line is a brand new ability in Marvel’s Spider-Man 2. With it, you can aim with then press to place a slackline between your location and the surface you’re aiming at.

I personally love this ability, it’s a lot of fun setting up a whole network of webs in the rafters and picking off enemies one by one undetected from the safety of your webs.

To unlock the Slack Line trophy, you must place Web Lines and then perform a cumulative total of 25 Stealth Takedowns from them. You’ll need to place a Web Line above an enemy, position yourself on it directly overhead, and then press while aiming at them to perform a Stealth Takedown, leaving them hanging from the web.

Overdrive

As Miles, use Reverse Flux to pull 6 or more enemies together simultaneously

Non-Cumulative

One of Miles’ stronger abilities, Reverse Flux, is unlocked unavoidably as part of Main Mission #23. With it equipped in the Abilities tab of , you can activate it by holding and pressing .

The resulting attack will pull in all enemies within a radius. To unlock the Overdrive trophy, you need to use this ability to pull in at least 6 enemies at one time.

This is actually possible as soon as you acquire the ability, but if you don’t earn it there then you can earn it in any other combat encounter, provided there are 6 or more enemies and you have the ability equipped, charged, and ready to use.

Surge

Use Symbiote Abilities 25 times during Symbiote Surge

Cumulative

When playing as Peter, you’ll see a gauge below your Web Shooter ammo counter which fills up over time. When full, you can press + together to activate the Symbiote Surge ability. Obviously you’ll need to have progressed far enough into the story to be able to use the ability.

While in Symbiote Surge mode, your Symbiote attacks are stronger and all four of your ability slots will have Symbiote abilities equipped, even if they weren’t equipped prior to the surge.

While in this mode, activate Symbiote abilities (+///) a cumulative total of 25 times to unlock the Surge trophy.

Just keep entering combat encounters as Peter, charging the Symbiote Surge gauge, activating it, and then using your abilities on surrounding enemies.

Evolved

Defeat 100 enemies with Evolved Venom abilities

Cumulative

Miles has access to four “Evolved Venom” blue-electric abilities that become available as you progress through the story. Those abilities are:

  • Chain Lightning ( + )
  • Thunder Burst ( + )
  • Reverse Flux ( + )
  • Galvanize ( + )

To unlock the Evolved trophy, you need to use any of those “Evolved Venom” abilities a cumulative total of 100 times.

Armed and Dangerous

Defeat 100 enemies with Spider Arm abilities

Cumulative

Miles has access to four “Spider Arm” abilities that become available as you progress through the story. Those abilities are:

  • Spider Barrage ( + )
  • Spider Rush ( + )
  • Spider Shock ( + )
  • Spider Whiplash ( + )

To unlock the Armed and Dangerous trophy, you need to use any of those “Spider Arm” abilities a cumulative total of 100 times.

Misc Exploration Trophies

Hang Ten

Perform 30 Air Tricks in a row without touching the ground

Non-Cumulative

When swinging or web-wing gliding through the air in New York City, you can hold and push in any direction to perform a trick. The trick you perform is dictated by the direction you push in.

You’ll gain a very, very small amount of exp each time that you perform a trick successfully.

To unlock the “Hang Ten” trophy, you will need to successfully execute a total of 30 tricks in mid-air without landing. That means you can’t land on perches, walls, floors, or rooftops. You’ll need to use your Web Wing and Web-Swinging abilities to gain altitude and maintain it in-between tricks so as to ensure you never touch down.

This is very easy if you’re patient, taking the time to position yourself between each trick and ensure you have enough room to maneuver. If you try to rush your way through thirty tricks you’ll come tumbling down before you know it.

Home Run!

Round the bases at the Big Apple Ballers Stadium

At the south end of Downtown Brooklyn, there’s a Baseball Field called “Baller’s Field” near the Amusement Park.

At this Baseball Field, stand on first base, this one here:

Then, run left to the next base (little white tile on the ground). Go directly there, if you cut the grass or go too far away, you’ll void the trophy and need to start again from first base.

From second base, run directly to third in a straight line. Then to fourth, maintaining a straight line again. Then, finally, run another straight line directly to the first base again.

If done correctly, the trophy will pop. If not, try again, making sure to run in a direct line from base to base and ensure you step on each base too.

Just Let Go

As Miles, find the science trophy Miles and Phin won together

While playing as Miles, go to the Church at this location in the Financial District:

Climb up the back of the tower and you’ll see a blue cube you can interact with.

Press to collect the item and the “Just Let Go” trophy will unlock.

You Know What to Do

As Peter, visit Aunt May's grave

While playing as Peter, go to the Graves at this location in the Graveyard at the North end of Harlem:

Look for Ben and May Parker’s Graves and interact with them by pressing .

The “You Know What to Do” trophy will unlock.

Soar

Using only your Web Wings, glide from the Financial District to Astoria (Wind Tunnels are okay!)

For the “Soar” trophy, you essentially need to travel from the Financial District (the Southwestern-most region of New York) all the way to Astoria (the Northeastern-most region) without swinging, landing, Web Zipping or anything other than simply gliding through Wind Tunnels with your Web Wings.

You can press while Web Wing Gliding to highlight all nearby Wind Tunnel currents for you to piggyback on.

Do your best to maintain altitude while moving from Wind Tunnel to Wind Tunnel until you reach Astoria.

I recommend starting at the northeast corner of the Financial District.

From there, glide northeast to the bridge from Chinatown to Williamsburg. Use the Wind Tunnel on the bridge to cross the river.

Then you just have to head north using the many Wind Tunnels and Updrafts between Williamsburg and Astoria.

Splat

Attempt and fail a trick before "landing" on the ground

To unlock the “Splat” trophy, you need to try and pull off a trick, but fail. You will then need to impact the ground or another surface as a result of the failed trick.

The easiest way to earn it is to glide with the web wings until you’re really low down close to a road. Then, hold and push to perform a trick. You’ll lose altitude quickly and hit the ground, unlocking the Splat trophy!
