Trophy Guide

Tribes of Midgard Trophy Guide and Road Map for PlayStation

Welcome to our Tribes of Midgard Trophy Guide. In a desperate search for something good to play together in the current gaming drought, my co-writer and I stumbled across Tribes of Midgard, and thoroughly enjoyed it. After we’d beat the final boss in the game’s Survival Mode, I told my friend I was going to delete the game, with little else to do in it…

But then after a few days I was seriously missing the game and I figured, hell, why not make a trophy guide out of it and see about getting that Platinum Trophy.

The game features gameplay which is admittedly hard to put down, as you gather more resources and grow gradually stronger, taking on the bosses and defogging the map, the game is truly a unique experience either solo or with up to 10 friends. Plus, I really enjoy Nordic-inspired stories and concepts, so this game is right up my street.

Phase One | Survival Mode

In this first phase of our Tribes of Midgard Trophy Guide, I recommend starting with Survival Mode. This is suignificantly more fun with at least one other friend, but you can play in a group of up to 10 people, so bring as many as you can along! Just note that the boss trophies only unlock when you land the finishing blow, so if you’re in a group of 10 players that’ll become quite difficult to do without some co-ordination amongst the team. (Don’t worry, you can challenge bosses more than once).

The main objective here will be to survive 100 in-game days while progressively crafting higher and higher quality gear, with a handful of miscellaneous trophies best earned along the way.

Honestly, you’ll have done pretty much everything there is to do by Day 50, leaving you with 50 more days of just meandering around and defogging the map. This phase starts off as the best phase but ends after 33 long hours. Don’t be afraid to perforate the boredom with some Saga Mode to keep you interested.

Defeat Bosses

Back to Asgarð

Deliver the final blow to defeat a Thunder Jötunn in any Mode

Story-Related

You can earn the “Back to Asgard” trophy in both Survival Mode and Saga Mode, but you’re guaranteed to earn it in a solo Survival Mode Playthrough.

If you’re playing with friends, you will need to make sure you land the killing blow on this boss. If you fail to do so, don’t worry, as she’ll respawn at her arena after a few in-game days have passed.

The Thunder Jotunn is the first boss you need to fight for the Survival Mode’s prologue sequence and will be marked on your map when it’s time to face her. She is weak to Dark type weapons and attacks.

Back to Múspelheim

Deliver the final blow to defeat a Fire Jötunn in any Mode

Story-Related

You can earn the “Back to Múspelheim” trophy in both Survival Mode and Saga Mode, but you’re guaranteed to earn it in a solo Survival Mode Playthrough.

If you’re playing with friends, you will need to make sure you land the killing blow on this boss. If you fail to do so, don’t worry, as he’ll respawn at his arena after a few in-game days have passed.

The Fire Jotunn is the second boss you need to fight for the Survival Mode’s prologue sequence and will be marked on your map when it’s time to face him. He is weak to Ice type weapons and attacks, and you’ll need significant heat resistance to be able to reach him.

Back to Jötunheim

The Ice Jotunn is the third boss you need to fight for the Survival Mode’s prologue sequence and will be marked on your map when it’s time to face him. He is weak to Fire type weapons and attacks, and you’ll need significant cold resistance to be able to reach him.

Back to Niflheim

Craft Equipment

Common Crafter

Craft a Common Item in any Mode

To unlock the “Common Crafter” trophy, you simply need to craft any common-grade tool, weapon, armor, construct, shield–anything you can craft, really! Common items have a gray background and are, well, very common! You should naturally earn this trophy in a Survival Mode playthrough very early on.

You can also earn this trophy in Saga Mode by having a Villager craft you something of Common grade.

Uncommon Crafter

Craft an Uncommon Item in any Mode

Uncommon items have a green background, you will unlock Uncommon Crafter the first time you craft any item of this grade.

In Saga Mode, you would need to have a Villager craft an uncommon-grade item for you.

Rare Crafter

Craft a Rare Item in any Mode

Rare items have a blue background, you will unlock Rare Crafter the first time you craft any item of this grade.

In Saga Mode, you would need to have a Villager craft a rare-grade item for you.

Epic Crafter

Craft an Epic Item in any Mode

Epic items have a purple background, you will unlock Epic Crafter the first time you craft any item of this grade.

In Saga Mode, you would need to have a Villager craft an epic-grade item for you.

Legendary Crafter

Craft a Legendary Item in any Mode

Legendary items have a gold background, you will unlock Legendary Crafter the first time you craft any item of this grade.

Legendary-grade items are by far the hardest to craft. They’ll typically require rare resources that you’ll sometimes need to farm from Jotunn bosses, and your crafting equipment will need to be upgraded as much as possible.

For example, I made the “Elivagar Bow” which required Golden Horns and crowns from powerful Helthing creatures to craft on a Level 5 Weapon Furnace.

In Saga Mode, you would need to have a Villager craft a legendary-grade item for you.

Survive 100 Days

Surthrival

Reach Day 100 in Survival Mode

Grind

You will unlock the “Surthrival” trophy when you reach Day 100 in any Survival Mode playthrough. You can see which day you’re currently on in the upper-right corner of the HUD, above where it also tells you the current in-game year.

The most frustrating aspect of this trophy is that there really isn’t 100 in-game days-worth of content in Survival Mode.

My friend and I had maxed out our crafting equipment and defeated all 9 bosses in just 43 days. When I returned to our save to continue the grind to Day 100, I’d done every Quest by day 50. Only to find that the quests respawn after a few in-game days so that was kind of pointless too.

There were still 50 in-game days ahead of me. Honestly, I just started leaving the game running in the background. Things are relatively safe near the Seed of Yggdrasil so I didn’t need to worry about getting attacked or killed. Annoyingly, though, if you don’t at least come back and wiggle the thumb sticks every now and then, you will get kicked for inactivity…

A day in Survival Mode is an excruciating 20 minutes long. Meaning that 100 of these days will consume a whopping 33 hours of your time. If you fancy it, you could play some Saga Mode now and leave the rest of this grind until later, it’s up to you.

Misc Survival Trophies

Like Svaðilfari

Have 100 Constructions in any Mode

You can earn the “Like Svaðilfari” trophy in Survival Mode and Saga Mode. In Saga Mode, your best bet is to use the Warden Class and then acquire the skill that allows them to craft constructs on the fly. Then, in a spare moment, you can litter the ground with floor tiles and ramps and whatever else you want to throw down until you eventually reach 100 constructs crafted.

That said, I find it more sensible to approach this in Survival Mode, since you have a lot of time to kill. Gathering the resources, crafting constructs, and then placing 100 of them will help you kill… maybe an hour, probably less.

I recommend placing them near the Seed of Yggdrasil because they won’t get attached and destroyed there.

You’ll first want to craft a Construction Bench and then place it in the world. From that, you can then craft floor tiles, walls, roofs, doors, pillars, fences, stairs, the list goes on. There’s never really any reason to use any of this stuff and my friend and I beat the game without ever using these constructs.

If you want to kill some time, maybe take the time to build yourself a complex base with dedicated areas for crafting, storage, sleeping, etc.

Or just craft 100 of any item and then litter your base with it just to get the trophy over with. I won’t judge.

Friend In Need

Successfully revive an ally player

Online Co-op

The “Friend in Need” trophy is the only trophy for which you must play with someone else. Be that a friend you invite, someone you meet up with in-game, or some random dude you begged on a forum to help you out.

You can actually earn this in Saga Mode too but, again, you have a lot of time to kill in Survival Mode, so why not subject a friend to joining you.

Basically, you just need that friend to get downed by an enemy. Any enemy. Just have them stand still until they’re downed. Once that happens, run up to them and then hold until they’re revived.

Make sure you’re quick, though. They have a small pool of health when downed and if they continue to take damage, they will fully die, and you’ll no longer be able to revive them. You can, of course, just try again immediately, though.

Paw Paw

Play a game with a Pet equipped

Unmissable

So, I’m sure that at some point this was a tricky trophy to earn. You probably had to save up Golden Horns or spend your own money on Platinum Coins to then purchase a pet from the in-game store and then, with it equipped, load up a Survival or Saga mode game and finally pop the trophy.

However, it seems as though everyone now starts the game with a free Raven pet, which is equipped by default. So you should earn the Paw Paw trophy naturally and unavoidably from the very first time you start a Survival or Saga mode playthrough.

Phase Two | Saga Mode

Whether you finished earning Surthrival yet or decided to take a break and move on to Saga Mode early, there’s a few things you’ll need to do in this next phase of our Tribes of Midgard Trophy Guide. The most important of these things is to complete a Saga Quest and make sure you deal the finishing blow to the boss at the end.

Aside from that, you’ll need to make sure you complete the Saga Mode tutorial, help up a downed Villager during a night-time Helthing invasion, and attempt to hold 10,000 souls at one time.

Trophies in this phase:

Complete the Tutorial

A Viking is Björn

Saga Mode Quest Trophies

Ragnarök
Valhalla Can Wait

Misc Saga Mode Trophies

Villager In Need
Dragonchild

Complete the Tutorial

A Viking is Björn

Complete the Tutorial

When you select Saga Mode from the Main Menu, you’ll see an option at the bottom-left of the HUD called “Tutorial.”

To earn the “A Viking is Bjorn” trophy, select this option and then complete the short tutorial sequence. It should only take 10 minutes or so and introduces you to the way things are done in Saga Mode.

Saga Mode Quest Trophies

Ragnarök

Complete a Saga Quest in Saga Mode

Time-Sensitive

The “Quests” mentioned in this trophy’s description does not refer to the Side-Quests you can acquire from Quest Boards. When you interact with the Santuary at the start of a Sage Mode playthrough, you will be able to select a main Saga Quest to take on. There are 5; one of which is a prologue and does not count towards this trophy, and then four others each tied to a Saga Mode boss, such as Fenrir, Jormungandr, Surtr, or Hel.

To unlock the Ragnarök trophy, you must beat any one of the four boss-focused Saga Quests.

They are not easy, finding each boss is a chore, and if you don’t do it quick enough the Blood Moon will rise, and you’ll be stuck in an eternal night, constantly defending your village from attacking Helthing forces. The easiest one is obviously Fenrir, and it’s even easier to accomplish with a team of friends.

However, you will need to deal the final blow on the final boss to unlock Valhalla Can Wait, which is obviously a bit trickier if there’s more than one of you.

Valhalla Can Wait

Deliver the final blow to defeat a Saga Boss in Saga Mode

Time-Sensitive

To unlock the “Valhalla Can Wait” trophy, you’ll need to reach any boss at the end of a Saga Quest (see Ragnarök) and then deal the finishing blow on that boss. This is obviously not too difficult to pull off if you’re playing solo, but if you’re playing with friends you’ll need to co-ordinate with them to agree who gets to finish the boss off.

Misc Saga Mode Trophies

Villager In Need

Successfully revive a villager

In Saga Mode, at night, Helthings will come to attack your village. If they get in through the gates of your village (or you open the gates and let them in), the villagers inside will help you fight them and keep them away from the Seed of Yggdrasil at the center.

To unlock the “Villager in Need” trophy, you’ll first need one of your villagers to get downed by an enemy Helthing (or Jotunn, if it comes to that).

When this happens, you can approach the downed villager and hold to revive them, unlocking the trophy when they’re back on their feet!

Dragonchild

Hold 10,000 Souls or more in Saga Mode

To unlock the “Dragonchild” trophy, you need to be holding at least 10,000 souls at any point in a Saga Mode playthrough. This can be tricky to accumulate because you’ll constantly be using your souls to upgrade the village facilities and keep the Seed of Yggdrasil alive.

However, if you take the time to build the nearby quarries in your playthrough, you’ll have a steady supply of resources being sent direct to the War Chest in your village each day. If you collect all of these resources (preferably when you’re done with your Playthrough and ready to leave via the Bifrost) you can then take those resources to any of the various merchants (marked as a blue coin pouch on your map), you’ll be able to sell them all in exchange for more souls.

Sell absolutely everything in your war chest, and you should be able to accumulate 10,000 souls pretty quickly.

Phase Three | Spend & Level Up

As you reach this final phase of your Tribes of Midgard Trophy Journey, you should only have a handful of things left to do; Reach Valhalla Level 50, and spend a cumulative total of One Million Souls. There’s a good chance you also still need to finish off your 100-day stint in Survival Mode for the Surthrival trophy if you haven’t already, so now would be a good time to return to that and finish things up.

Trophies in this phase:

Reach Max Valhalla Level

New Viking

Reach Season Level 2

You will unlock the “New Viking” trophy at Valhalla Level 2. See New Einherjar.

New Hersir

Reach Season Level 5

You will unlock the “New Hersir” trophy at Valhalla Level 5. See New Einherjar.

New Jarl

Reach Season Level 10

You will unlock the “New Jarl” trophy at Valhalla Level 10. See New Einherjar.

New Konungr

Reach Season Level 25

You will unlock the “New Konungr” trophy at Valhalla Level 25. See New Einherjar.

New Einherjar

Reach Last Season Level

Grind

Your Valhalla Level is separate from your character level and is tied to your account as a whole, rather than individual playthroughs. You will earn Valhalla EXP as you play in both Saga and Survival Mode, so you should naturally be progressing this trophy as you work on other trophies.

The maximum Valhalla Level is 50, so you will need to continue collecting Valhalla Level until you reach Level 50, at which point the New Einherjar trophy will unlock!

Spend One Million Souls Total

Make It Rain

Spend 10,000 Souls in Miðgarð

Cumulative

The “Make it Rain” trophy will unlock when you’ve spent a total of 10,000 souls across all Survival and Saga playthroughs. This is cumulative so you don’t need to try and attempt it in a single playthrough. You will need to spend one million souls for the Make it Hail trophy.

Make it Pour

Spend 100,000 Souls in Miðgarð

Grind

Cumulative

The “Make it Pour” trophy will unlock when you’ve spent a total of 100,000 souls across all Survival and Saga playthroughs. This is cumulative so you don’t need to try and attempt it in a single playthrough. You will need to spend one million souls for the Make it Hail trophy.

Make it Hail

Spend 1,000,000 Souls in Miðgarð

Grind

Cumulative

The “Make it Hail” trophy will unlock when you’ve spent a total of 10,000 souls across all Survival and Saga playthroughs. This is cumulative so you don’t need to try and attempt it in a single playthrough.

In Survival Mode, there is not much to spend Souls on, as most things cost resources instead. However, farming souls in Survival Mode isn’t too difficult as everything you do will earn you souls. You can also sell your equipment and resources to Sindri’s Foundry once you unlock it by defeating Fenrir and then talking to Eira Foot-Crushed back at the sanctuary.

Once you’ve racked up some souls, you can go to any Sorcerer and purchase Soul Potions for 700 Souls. Drinking them will return 500 souls to you. This is obviously a long-winded way to go about it, but it’s an effective way to kill time for the Surthrival Trophy!

Alternatively, as Saga Mode involves spending a lot of souls on a lot of things, you could just complete multiple Saga Mode playthroughs until you’ve spent enough souls. You can monitor your progress via the “Challenges” tab in the pause menu and main menu.
